Prep Baseball Report

Top 2019 60 Times

By Jeff Markle
Assistant State Director

PBR Colorado strives to be the most comprehensive source of player information across the state. The Prep Baseball Report is the No. 1 resource for high school baseball in each state we cover through our variety of events, boots-on-the-ground scouting staff, daily coverage, and multimedia platforms. Our multimedia platforms and events work in tandem, ultimately creating the most powerful source of high school baseball promotion in each state.  While other organizations take a national approach, our goal is to become the authoritative voice on the ground level of each state.

We recently did a series on the top uncommitted pop-times, 60-times, arm velos, and exit velocities. Now we are doing a series on our Top 5 overall numbers for each class.

Top 2019 60 Times:

Dru Devera, Broomfield, SS
60 Time: 6.86
5-foot-10, 130 pounds. Bats and throws right. Has a balanced stance, has a lot of movement before load, and then really lets the ball get deep. Keeps hands inside of ball. Swing path is down and through to ball with good extension through zone. Line drive hitter through infield. Generated 76 mph exit velo off tee. Ran a 6.86 60 time. Quick actions at shortstop with quick release. Arm strength was 72 mph across infield.

Zach Macosko, Broomfield, RHP/OF
60 Time: 6.90
6-foot, 170 pounds. Really good athlete. One of the best athletes at event. Really like his loose arm. Shows a ton of confidence, and has some swagger on the mound. Takes the ball and just throws. Comes at different arm angles as well. High and mid 3/4, and also will drop down. Has to be careful not to drop elbow. Fastball was 78-80, but hitters could not square up at all. Curveball was 60-63. Has a quick pace and attacks hitters. At the plate stands tall. Has a lot of pre-pitch movement. Rocks back, toe tap, then leg kick, hands start a little low, then gets everything on time. Very good athlete who is making himself have to be a better athlete to hit. You can see the strength potential. Bat speed is very good through zone. Has pull tendencies. Generated 87 mph exit velo off tee. Attacks ball in outfield and shows good range. Ran a 6.9 60. Athlete to follow.

Kian Manmano, Legend, RHP/OF
60 Time: 7.00
6-foot, 150 pounds. Bats and throws right. A lot of tools and a player that needs to be followed. On the mound gets very good extension to the plate with good leg drive. Square and in-line to the plate. Nice loose arm that hides ball well. Fastball was 79-81 but seems faster. Arm speed is same as fastball at 68-70 mph with 11/5 late depth. At the plate has a balanced athletic stance. Short stride, and loads back. Swing is short to the ball with good bat speed. Generated a 85 mph exit velo off a tee. Line drive power. On a triple he hit was 12.16 to 3rd. In the outfield had top arm velocity at event at 84 mph. Ran a 7 flat 60 time. Player to follow.

Billy Pospisil, Pomona, 3B/RHP
60 Time: 7.00
5-foot-t-10, 180 pounds. Bats and throws right. At the plate has a slightly opened stance, with a toe-tap stride. Keeps hands inside ball with slight uphill swing path. Has pull tendencies because he flies a little open on front side. Produced a 87 mph exit velocity off the tee. Has a strong arm in the infield, and had good glove to hand exchange. Threw 82 mph across diamond from a high 3/4 arm slot and gains good ground. As catcher had one of the top pop-times at 1.86 to 1.93 off a coach. Has potential on the mound to be pretty good. Throws from a high 3/4 arm slot, and arm is quick and works well with body. Short on the back side, hard to pick up. Stride is in-line with the plate with good leg drive. Throws off two-feet. Showcased a 80-81 mph fastball with some arm-side run. Curveball was 68-69 and so was changeup. Both thrown at same arm speed as fastball. Ran a 7.0 laser timed 60. Versatile 2019 player to follow.

Grant Wilkinson, Pine Creek, 3B/OF
60 Time: 7.05
6-foot-1, 160 pounds. Bats and throws right. Really came away liking his tools. At the plate has a tall balanced stance. Generates good bat speed through the hitting zone. Just needs to keep hands inside of ball a little more at times. Lower and upper half work well together. Swing is slightly uphill with good extension. Tends to want to pull ball at times. Generated a 78 mph exit velocity off the tee. Came impressed with defensive play. Had some real nice backhands at 3B during the weekend. Shows good range to go to hole at 3B as well. Was 80 mph across the diamond. Also ran a 7.07 60 time. Strong skill set.
