West Coast Games Recap: Position Players

Josh Reynolds
Colorado State Director

The PBR West Coast Games took place on August 12-14 in Las Vegas at UNLV and College of Southern Nevada. There was ton of uncommitted talent in the 2023 class from seven states and Canada. We started with a pro-style workout and finished with three games against Arizona (8-6 L), Utah (16-5 W), and Pacific Northwest (3-2 W). Team Colorado was well represented and showcased their abilities all weekend.

Brandon Sanchez SS / 2B / Legacy, CO / 2023

5 foot 8, 160-pound baseball player. Strong for his frame and generates bat speed with a leg lift and compact swing. He can play middle infield, third base, and the outfield. He showed a disciplined approach at the plate and a feel for the running game when on base. He can hit for avg with occasional power. Defensively the hands and feet work with plenty of arm strength to stay at shortstop. He plays the game with energy and attitude.

Sage Hurley SS / 2B / Mullen , CO / 2023

5 foot 10, 160-pound middle infielder with room in his body to add strength. At the plate, he stands tall with limited movements, a line drive approach, and uses all fields. On defense, his hands and feet work, he moves through the baseball with enough arm strength to play shortstop. He has good game instincts, stays neutral mentally, and competes.

Ethan Sanchez LHP / OF / Legacy, CO / 2025

5 foot 9, 165-pound outfielder in the 2025 class. He was one of the youngest players at the event, but he handled himself well. He can play all three outfield spots and competes in the box. At the plate, he starts slightly open with a toe tap timing mechanism that produces a line drive approach to all fields. Competitive kid with a feel for the game who I look forward to following.

Carter Evans SS / 2B / Resurrection Christian, CO / 2023

6 foot, 190-pound middle infielder who shows good actions in the field. He can throw from multiple arm slots with a quick release. He starts his hands in lower position, loads well, with a middle approach at the plate. Tough kid who plays the game right.

Trevor Landen RHP / SS / Heritage, CO / 2023

6 foot 3, 180-pound middle infielder with good actions up the middle. His hands and feet work with easy arm action. At the plate, he has a short and quick swing with a middle approach. He is a good athlete with room to fill out. Easy frame to dream on as a pitcher or position player.

Tanner Pachorek SS / 2B / Grandview, CO / 2023

6 foot, 150-pound utility guy who can play all over the field and looks natural wherever you put him. Very competitive in the box, contact-type guy. Plays the game hard and with a high motor. He just needs to add strength to his body, but the baseball skills are there.

Gavin Hunt OF / RHP / Valor Christian , CO / 2023

6 foot 4, 195-pound outfielder with a good frame and present strength. Has a middle, opposite-field approach and came up big with the bat in pressure situations during game action. Probably projects more as a corner outfielder with arm strength to play both sides. Runs the bases well (6.95-60) and showed an overall feel for the game.

Ty Thompson RHP / 1B / Riverdale Ridge, CO / 2023

6 foot 4, 210-pound first baseman with an upright stance in the box, who looks to elevate pull side. Had the highest exit velocity for Team Colorado at 96.9. He was a two-way at the event with more projection on the mound right now.
