Wyoming Prospect ID Showcase Outfield Analysis

The Prep Baseball Report’s Wyoming Prospect ID Showcase was held in Cheyenne Wyoming. 44 prospects completed a pro-style workout for the PBR Colorado's Scouting Staff, several of whom were new to the staff. There were some impressive numbers that came out of the event on this weekend.

Over the next week we will break down the event by position.  Continuing our look at the Wyoming Prospect ID is the outfield position.

Outfield Analysis:

Reid Baty, OF/1B, Laramie High School (2017)
A 6-foot-3, 180 pound right hand hitting OF/1B who ran a 7.0 60.  At the plate he stands tall with a wide base.  Uses a high leg kick to load on his backside.  Hits off a firm front side with an uphill swing path.  Exit velocity was 85 MPH off a tee.  In the outfield he does a nice job of getting behind the ball.  He has smooth actions and delivers from an over the top arm slot.  Arm velocity was 79 MPH with accuracy to the bag. 

Zach Boh, OF/LHP, Broomfield High School (2019)
A 5-foot-6, 140-pound left hand hitting OF/LHP who ran a 7.6 60.  At the plate he stands opened with a double toe tap on the stride to come square.  Hips and hands rotate through the zone with a high finish.  Exit velocity was 80 MPH off a tee.  In the field he showed good instincts and positioning on balls.  He throws from a high ¾ arm slot and arm velocity was 75 MPH.  On the mound he stands tall with a high leg kick.  He shows slight sink and drive to the plate and lands in-line on his delivery.  Arm slot is over the top and his fastball was 73 MPH.  He also showcased a 59 MPH curve and a 63 MPH change.

Cooper Brown, OF/RHP, Cody High School (2018)
A 6-foot-1, 170-pound right hand hitting OF/RHP who ran a 7.70 60.  At the plate he stands tall with a high leg kick for timing.  Weight gets stuck on his back side on the swing.  Bat travels uphill to the ball with good carry to the left center gap.  Exit velocity was 82 MPH.  In the field he showed good actions and does a nice job of fielding through the ball.  Delivery is over the top and arm velocity was 74 MPH with accuracy to 3rd base.

Kyler Halverson, OF/RHP, Natrona County High School (2018)
A 5-foot-9, 150-pound right hand hitting OF/RHP who ran a 7.50 60.  At the plate he stands tall and balanced with a slight toe tap for timing.  Showcased quick hands on the swing with good weight transfer at contact.  Good extension out front and bat control to all fields.  Exit velocity was 81MPH.  In the field he moved well on balls left and right.  He showed smooth actions fielding through the ball and delivers from a long over the top slot.  Ball was accurate to the bag and arm velocity was 74 MPH. 

Trevor Hazlett, OF, Fredrick High School (2019)
A 5-foot-10, 140-pound switch hitting OF who ran a 7.30 60.  At the plate we saw him from the left side.  He is balanced and square at set up.  He doubles strides, once to load on the back side and then to bring his weight forward on the swing.  Hands are quick through the zone and swing is compact.  Showcased great bat control to all fields.  Exit velocity was 72 MPH.  In the field he showed good instincts and anticipation on balls.  He does a good job of squaring up and fielding through the ball.  Delivery is over the top and he showed an accurate 70 MPH arm. 

Braxton Innis, OF/RHP, Cheyenne East High School (2018)
A 5-foot11, 160-pound left hand hitting OF/RHP who ran a 6.93 60.  At the plate he stands square with hands held high in the zone.  High leg kick and slow load back get him in hitting position.  He drives through the ball with his lower half and finishes high with an uphill swing path.  Exit velocity was 87 MPH.  In the field he uses his speed to close on balls quickly.  He delivers from an over the top slot with good extension out front.  Arm velocity was 85 MPH with great accuracy.

Sawyer Lofsted, OF/2B, Monarch High School (2017)
A 5-foot-10, 160-pound right hand hitting OF/2B who ran a 6.90 60.  At the plate he hits from a slightly crouched stance.  He is balanced with a slow load back on the pitch.  Hands are quick through the zone and weight rotates through on the pitch.  Exit velocity was 79 MPH off the tee.  In the field he is aggressive on balls and does a nice job fielding through the ball.  He delivers an accurate ball from the outfield and arm velocity was 79 MPH. 

Kyle McGregor, OF/1B, Broomfield High School (2018)
A 5-foot-10, 170-pound right hand hitting OF/1B who ran a 7.4 60.  At the plate he starts balanced and slowly loads on his back side.  Long stride brings the weight through the zone on the swing.  He has a long swing with a slight uphill swing path.  Exit velocity was 80 MPH off the tee.  In the field he squares up on the ball and delivers from a high ¾ arm slot.  Throws were accurate to the bag and arm velocity was 79 MPH.  

Dana Sullivan, OF/1B, Boulder High School (2017)
A 6-foot-0, 180-pound left hand hitting OF/1B who ran a 7.40 60.  At the plate he is balanced and square at set up, he uses a double stride to load back and then come through the ball.  Swing path is short and to the ball with good extension out front.  Exit velocity was 84 MPH.  In the field he covers good ground and does a nice job of getting behind the ball.  He delivers from an over the top arm slot.  Arm velocity was 79 MPH with accuracy to the bag.

Tristan Trease, OF/RHP, Cheyenne East High School (2017)
A 5-foot-10, 180-pound right hand hitting OF/RHP who ran a 7.60 60.  At the plate he is balanced with an early load on the pitch.  Swing is simple with no wasted movements.  Swing path is slightly up hill with good weight transfer at contact.  Exit velocity was 89 MPH off the tee.  In the field he is quick to the ball and showcased smooth actions on balls left and right.  He delivers from a high ¾ arm slot and his arm velocity was 74 MPH.  On the mound he gets to balance and then sinks and drives to the plate.  He lands in-line on his delivery and throws off two feet.  Arm slot is over the top with good extension out front.  Fastball was 76 MPH with good command of the zone.  He also showcased a 67 MPH curve with sweeping break and a 68 MPH change down in the zone.
