Colorado 2024 Class Rankings: Fall Update

Caleb Dameron
PBR Colorado Staff

The fall 2023 rankings update consists of 150 players from the Colorado 2024 class. This group of prospects includes 80+ college commits in total, 30+ division I commits, and still plenty of top uncommitted talent available. When creating our rankings, we consider various factors, such as skills, physical abilities, potential, projection, and on-field performance as well.

As the fall comes to an end, we are excited to see how these players develop and are constantly looking for new talent within our state. We understand that each player progresses at their own pace, and we will update the rankings throughout the year. It's important to remember that each player has their journey, and the ultimate goal should always be to strive for continuous improvement.

HIGH-END LEFT-HANDED HITTERS:

Hunter Smolinski SS / 2B / Fruita Monument, CO / 2024

Smolinski sits atop the left-handed hitters in the Colorado 2024 class and comes with a very high ceiling. The Grand Canyon University commit hit .606 this spring (71 at-bats) with 4 home runs, 6 triples, 10 doubles, and a 1.752 OPS as a junior at the 5A level in Colorado. Smolinski has also posted a 95 mph top exit-velocity in past events with clean actions in the infield. As Smolinski develops as a senior, we could see him continue to make plenty of noise.

Sean Togher UTILITY / 1B / Fort Collins, CO / 2024

Togher is another fine lefty in these rankings as he comes in as 8th overall ranked player in Colorado's 2024 class. The senior is committed to playing baseball at Cal. Baptist in spring 2025, but we can also tell you that as a junior this spring he put on a show. Togher hit to the tune of a .538 average (78 at-bats) and 1.485 OPS with 4 homers, 3 triples, and 8 doubles. There is also plenty of upside to be had with Togher on the mound from the right-side thanks to a fastball in the mid 80s. Togher pitched to a 2.04 ERA with 80 strikeouts in 48 innings in spring 2023. We have seen Togher hit for over a 94 mph exit-velocity in events past while he also has the ability to play multiple positions all around the baseball diamond.

Cade Collins SS / 2B / Dakota Ridge, CO / 2024

Collins might just have the best tools out of this group of lefties thanks to a 95.5 mph top exit-velocity and a 6.92 60 yard dash time. In spring 2023, Collins hit .456 (68 at-bats) with a 1.400 OPS, 10 stolen bases, 3 home runs, 4 triples, and 6 doubles. The tall, wiry, and athletic frame on Collins should continue to get stronger and develop which gives the Wofford commit a high ceiling in the near future.

TOP RISERS:

Logan Reid LHP / 1B / Cherokee Trail , CO / 2024

Reid makes a jump in the rankings as the senior is now committed to playing baseball in spring 2025 at the University of Houston. The lefty has been a consistent riser and comes with some intriguing stuff on the mound. Reid has ramped the fastball up to over 88 mph at times with spin and a very strong change-up. The high pitch-ability on Reid allowed him to pitch in pivotal games down the stretch and into the 5A state championship this spring.

Isaiah Sadorus LHP / OF / Falcon, CO / 2024

Sadorus is another standout southpaw that has moved up the rankings, and the senior is headed to playing college baseball at Colby Community College after this upcoming spring. The fastball on Sadorus sits in the mid 80s, but he also has exceptional spin on his fastball, slider, and curveball from about 2,400-2,700 RPMs. As a junior this spring, Sadorus threw 38.2 innings with 64 strikeouts and a 1.81 ERA at the Colorado 4A level.

Akoi Burton OF / 3B / Cherokee Trail, CO / 2024

Burton moves from 93 to 64 after a strong showing in the Colorado State Games and developing this fall. As a junior this spring, Burton hit .368 (76 at-bats) with a .982 OPS, 2 homers, 2 triples, and 3 doubles at the Colorado 5A level. Burton comes with strength and some athleticism with feel in the outfield (85 mph outfield velocity as well). Uncommitted 2024 to keep a close eye on.

TOP NEWCOMERS:

Camran Eakin SS / OF / Arapahoe, CO / 2023

Eakin surges into our rankings after blasting a 97 mph top exit-velocity and an 85 mph throwing velocity from the outfield during the 2023 Rockies Scout Team scout day. The uncommitted Arapahoe senior flashes some real strength and athleticism while he is still developing.

Zak White RHP / OF / Centaurus, CO / 2024

White is now committed to St. Mary's College in California after showcasing a fastball around 90 mph this summer and fall. The frame on White is easy to dream on as he is a physical athlete that moves well on the mound. White also throws from a lower 3/4 arm slot which could give his fastball even more deception and run through the zone. The senior flashes a high-powered fastball while developing strong off-speeds and is certainly one to track in spring 2024.

Rowan Kliniske OF / 2B / Falcon, CO / 2024

Klinske forced his way into this round of the rankings thanks to a blazing 6.47 60 yard dash time, a 92 mph top exit-velocity, and an 84 mph top throwing velocity from the outfield. The uncommitted senior has some high-end tools on display right now and could progress exceptionally well into spring 2024.

Scott Thompson OF / RHP / University , CO / 2024

Thompson was a standout at the Pueblo Fall ID with a 6.80 60 yard dash time, an 86 mph outfield velocity, a 92 mph top exit-velocity, and a 74 mph bat speed. The senior has a tall, wiry, and athletic frame that should only continue to get stronger as he develops. Thompson is worth checking in on heading into 2024 as a top uncommitted prospect in his class.
