Colorado 2027 Class Rankings
December 18, 2023
The opening Colorado 2027 rankings consists of 25 top prospects from the state. This group includes a couple of already nationally merited players at the top, plenty of developing young arms, and some intriguing upsides with the bat. When creating our rankings, we consider various factors, such as skills, physical abilities, potential, projection, and on-field performance as well.
As the 2023 season comes to an end, we are excited to see how these players develop and are constantly looking for new talent within our state. We understand that each player progresses at their own pace, and we will update the rankings throughout the year. It's important to remember that each player has their journey, and the ultimate goal should always be to strive for continuous improvement.
BREAKING DOWN THE TOP 10:
Will Hayes RHP / OF / Valor Christian , CO / 2027Hayes cracks the rankings as the #1 prospect thanks to already being nationally regarded, and possessing some high-end two-way tools. Hayes already presents a fastball in the mid 80s with a higher level approach in the box. The tall, athletic and strong frame on Hayes should only continue to develop, which gives him quite the ceiling in the coming years.
Dylan Langstaff 1B / LHP / Douglas County, CO / 2027Langstaff was a standout during the 2023 Junior Future Games thanks to a fastball in the low-80s, as well as deceptive offspeed, with high pitchability from the left-side. The Douglas County freshman has a quick and easy arm action that led to four strikeouts in three innings down at LakePoint, with just one hit allowed and zero walks during his appearance in the games. Langstaff is a high upside southpaw worth a close follow.
Jameson Clegg RHP / OF / Broomfield, CO / 2027Clegg had a fantastic showing during PBR Colorado's annual state games this summer. The freshman presented a fastball around 83 mph with plenty of feel for his full arsenal. Clegg was productive on the mound in his innings of work against high school hitters, and he also has upside at the plate with an 87 mph top exit-velocity.
Braydon Gillest RHP / 1B / The Summit Academy , CO / 2027Gillest will be playing his baseball at Ralston Valley High School come spring, and he has a chance to make a quick impact. The freshman already has a fastball that has touched 85 mph and he has also registered over a 91 mph top exit-velocity. Gillest showcased these tools during the 2023 Rockies Scout Team scout day, and could develop into a very high ceiling.
Jackson Roper OF / 1B / Regis Jesuit, CO / 2027There is no shortage of strength when it comes to Jackson Roper. The tall and strong athlete (also plays football) has already popped a 98.1 mph top exit-velocity with a 76 mph bat speed. Roper is also a Junior Future Games attendee where he racked up multiple hits with 90-95+ mph exit-velocities in-game. Roper is worth a close follow as he continues to develop.
Cameron Mares C / RHP / Pueblo West, CO / 2027Mares is another Junior Future Games attendee, and he might be the most athletic player in his class from the state. The freshman can play quality outfield, catch, and pitch. Mares comes with a fastball over 80 mph, a 1.94 top pop time, 90 mph top exit-velocity, and an 83 mph outfield velocity. We can also tell you that Mares has handled himself quite well in games on all fronts, making him one of the top follows as he develops in the coming years.
Winston Patterson RHP / OF / Ralston Valley, CO / 2027Patterson is a tall and athletic young prospect. The freshman showcased a fastball up to 82 mph during this summer's Junior Future Games with a quality off-speed, and feel to work through multiple innings. The 6'5" right-hander has a frame that is easy to dream on while his athleticism continues to develop exceptionally well.

Easton Agnew RHP / 2B / Erie, CO / 2027Agnew is yet another Junior Future Games alumni that has tons of upside on the mound. The freshman has a fastball around 80 mph with a quality changeup and slider. Agnew comes with plenty of feel on the mound at a young age, and he isn't afraid to attack the strikezone. The arm slot on Agnew also has some funk at a slightly lower 3/4 slot and a bit of a cross-firing body action. Agnew has a loose and easy arm that should continue to develop with quality stuff in the coming years.
Declan Moylett C / SS / Severance, CO / 2027Moylett is a standout from this summer's Junior Future Games thanks to leading the team in on-base percentage and hits. The left-handed hitting catcher already has a quality approach in the box while he controls the game exceptionally well behind the plate.
