Week 1 Colorado Player and Pitcher of the Week
March 19, 2024
Each week during the high school season, the Prep Baseball Colorado staff will announce our 'Player(s) of the Week' awards for that particular week. Numerous players from across the state will continue to perform and put up numbers weekly, though only a select few can earn Player or Pitcher of the Week honors when compared on a weekly basis. Below you'll see which players have earned our 'Player of the Week' honor this spring season. We will also highlight those that fell short in our weekly 'Diamond Notes' article, where you can learn more about the standout names across the Colorado baseball landscape.
NOTE: These submissions were provided from our social media direct messages along with our scouting staff's research. If you would like to submit a potential player of the week, be sure to message us on either Twitter (@pbrcolorado) or Instagram (@prepbaseballco).
WEEK 1 COLORADO PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Eddie Castilleja SS / OF / Peak to Peak, CO / 2024Castilleja broke out in a big way during the first week of CHSAA play thanks to a 3 homerun game against Bennett. The 6'3" senior is a two-sport athlete (also plays soccer) who comes with athleticism and physicality in the batter's box. None of the homeruns for Castilleja were cheap either, as all three easily cleared the fences. Castilleja is worth a close watch to begin 2024 as he is still uncommitted on the baseball side of things, and is also his program's starting shortstop at the moment. The final line for Castilleja over two games was 4 for 6, 3 homeruns, a double, a stolen base, 7 RBIs, 5 runs, a walk, and a hit by pitch.

WEEK 1 COLORADO PITCHER OF THE WEEK:
Adam Hayes RHP / 3B / Berthoud , CO / 2025Another standout performance comes from junior Adam Hayes who chucked a 7 inning no-hitter against Northridge, and could have been a perfect game if it wasn't for one hit by pitch. Hayes threw 68 of his 95 pitches for strikes in this game and was rewarded with 15 strikeouts to go along with zero hits allowed, zero runs allowed, and no walks allowed. Hayes also went 4 for 6 in the box across two games with his two doubles, a triple, and a single. The junior continues to impress and should be a consistent riser in 2024.
