On the Hunt: Underclass Uncommitted Arms Poised for National Attention
November 10, 2016
By Shooter Hunt
This week, On the Hunt, takes a look at some of the top uncommitted arms that have burst onto the scene or continued to build momentum throughout the fall. Leading the way is a big, projectable left-handed 2020 from Oklahoma with each of the other six ready to make a national impact in the recruiting world.
Dax Fulton, LHP/1B, Mustang HS, OK (2020)
Fulton opened eyes at PBR Oklahoma’s Underclass Prospect Games as an immediate national recruit with his showing at the plate and on the mound. Already an imposing 6-foot-4, 195-pounds, Fulton has long limbs and still has more room to add strength in the next several years. On the mound, the left-hander utilizes an uptempo motion that gives way to a high ¾ slot. Fulton’s fastball sat 81-83 with natural cut that frustrated nearly every hitter during his outing, and his two-seamer showed arm side run and sink. Repeating his delivery with ease, Fulton also spun a 1/7 curveball (69-71) and changeup with fade and depth (73-75). Fulton attacks hitters with aggression that is rarely seen from such a young player, and projects to gain velocity as he continues to mature. At the plate, he shows strength from a tall, balanced setup with a short stride and downward load. He projects a probable two-way player at the next level with more power to come.
