The 2015 Prep Baseball Report Maryland Fall Review took place over the month of October covering the PBR Maryland area of coverage. 50 prospects from Delaware and Maryland area in the 2016-2019 class put their ability on display in front of the PBR scouting staff.

Over the course of the week we will be releasing the positional analysis articles with scouting reports on each player and identifying the top performers. We shall identify top performers along with a younger talent (2018 and younger) as a Future Watch if applicable. 

Today we look at the pitchers that participated in the event. Another talented group that made it very hard to pick top performers. Lots of young  Let's take a look at the participants.

TOP PERFORMERS

Ryan Bywaters RHP/OF Smithsburg 2017
Lanky, athletic frame at 6-foot-4, 170-pounds. Projects well on the mound.  Throws from a high three-quarters arm angle. Free arm action with fast arm speed. Pitches with regular effort. Shoulders stay square and lands in line to plate with athletic finish. Uses lower half well. Fastball has late sink to the pitch at 84-86 and hit 88 twice. Breaking ball has 11-to-5 shape and tight rotation with gradual break currently and potential to be a sharp pitch. 72 mph on the breaking ball.  Changeup has run and sink to the pitch at 77 mph.

Jordan Tapley RHP Smithsburg 2016
Athletic frame at 6-foot-1, 175-pounds. Throws from a high three quarter arm angle with sound arm action and quick arm speed. Nice hip load and good balance throughout delivery. Shows nice lower half usage. Could get more backside drive to clear hips over front side. Shoulders stay square, is in line to plate. Pitches with some effort. Fastball has gradual run to the pitch up to 85 mph. When gets more in front, starts to get sink as well. Breaking ball has 12/6 action at 69 mph. Changeup is a plus pitch with late life and dive to the pitch at 77 mph.

Joey Silan OF/RHP Caravel Academy (DE) 2018
Athletic frame at 6-foot, 180-pounds. Loose arm action on the mound throwing from a high ¾ arm angle. Controlled delivery. Good hip set and could get more lower half involvement. Lands slightly across body on landing and finishes a bit towards the first base side.  Quick arm speed. Fastball has late run and little sink to the pitch at 83 mph. Curveball has 11/5 action almost 12/6 at 71 mph. Potential for a power pitch. Had tight rotation and later break. Fastball arm speed on changeup with late sink to the pitch at 77 mph. Slider has similar action to the curveball with shorter 11/5 action. Got under a bit on the pitch but has nice shape.

FUTURE WATCH

John Carter RHP Smithsburg 2020
Lanky frame at 6-foot-2, 170-pounds. Throws from a three-quarter arm angle. Has a sound arm action with some arm speed. Will increase lower half involvement as he matures. Nice foundation in mechanics at a young age. Pitches with easy effort. Lands in line to the plate and shoulder slightly uphill. Fastball has slight sink to the pitch at 75 mph. Changeup has fade to the pitch and slows arm down slightly on the pitch at 66 mph. Interesting size and frame to monitor as he develops.

BEST OF THE REST (LISTED ALPHABETICALLY)

Steven Cook RHP Winters Mill 2016
Athletic frame with room to fill out at 6-foot-2 180-pounds. Throws from an over the top angle with a long arm action and shows some arm speed. Lands slightly closed to the plate.  Low glove side at release. Could get more lower half drive from backside through release. Fastball has slight run to the pitch at 82 mph.  Breaking ball has near fastball arm speed with 11/5 action and tight rotation.  Potential to be a sharper pitch. Change has some fade with fastball arm speed at 77 mph.

Brian Cordell Jr. OF/LHP Old Mill 2017
Lanky frame at 5-foot10 160-pounds. Throws from a high three-quarter arm angle on the mound. Long arm action with some rhythm in delivery. Falls off slightly towards third base. Fastball has slight run on it at 74 mph. Breaking ball has tight rotation with gradual break and near fastball arm speed at 63 mph.  Changeup has gradual sink on it at 66 mph. 

Keith Parks LHP Old Mill 2016
Projectable frame at 6-foot-1, 190-pounds. Throws from an over-the-top arm slot.  Sound arm action with slight pause at bottom. Creates quick arm speed. Lands in line to the plate with square finish. Nice lower half and gets nice hip clearance over front side. Could get more backside drive .Fastball has slight run on the pitch at 82 mph. Breaking ball has 1/7 shape, gradual break with nice rotation on pitch and near fastball arm speed. Changeup has fade to the pitch with near fastball arm speed at 69 mph.

Ethan Poore 3B/RHP Huntingtown 2019
Athletic, projectable frame at 5-foot-10, 150-pounds. Throws from a high ¾ arm angle. Lands slightly closed with square finish. Could increase lower half drive. Fastball has some cut to the pitch at 70 mph. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape and slows arm down slightly. Changeup has dive to the pitch at 63 mph. Young 2019 will be interesting to see development.

Dylan Smith OF/LHP Mardela 2019
Lanky frame at 5-foot-11, 145-pounds. Pitches from stretch only. Controlled delivery. Slower tempo. Lands a little closed to the plate with finish slightly to the third base side. Loose arm action throwing from a high ¾ arm angle. Shows some arm speed. Fastball has slight sink to the pitch at 74 mph. Breaking ball has near fastball arm speed with 1/7 shape and potential. Interesting mound prospect as he fills out frame.

Dylan Wingate RHP/OF St. Mary's 2018
Solid frame at 5-foot-9, 150-pounds. Pitches from a high 3/4 arm angle. Has controlled delivery with some tempo. Nice hip load and lands in-line to plate with square shoulders. Has a short arm action with some arm speed. Slight recoil in finish, could get some more backside drive. Fastball Has slight run on the pitch at 77 mph. Breaking ball has almost 12/6 shape with good rotation and potential for the pitch and near fastball arm speed at 64 mph. Changeup has dive to the pitch with near fastball arm speed at 72 mph.

RECENT HEADLINES
