2019 Academy World Series Preview: IMG Performance

On May 10th-12th, 2019 at the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches, PBR Florida will host the First annual Academy World Series. This years event features eight academies from Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Alabama. The event will feature a pair of pool play games followed by single elimination bracket-play until the first champion is crowned. Today we take a look at the preview of IMG Performance.

Kevin Karstetter SS / RHP / IMG Academy, FL / 2020The 6-foot-3 middle infielder has a strong, athletic frame. Has a quick first step in the field with quality range. Offensively, has extremely quick hands which create well above average bat speed.

Andrew Bergeron OF / 3B / IMG Academy, FL / 2020Bergeron has a 6-foot-3 athletic frame. Solid defensively up the middle and at 3rd base. On the offensive side, has a smooth, simple swing that shows flashes of power potential.

Jake Gelof SS / RHP / IMG Academy , FL / 20206-foot-1 shortstop has an athletic frame with room to grow. Has a short swing path to the ball and shows quickness and strength in his swing. Defensively, shows clean footwork in the infield with a strong arm across the diamond.

Benino Mendella OF / 2B / IMG Academy, FL / 20195-foot-10 outfielder has a medium frame with a slender build. Shows good hand speed at the plate and works the whole field. Defensively, attacks the ball well and has a quick release from the outfield.
