'22 Future Games: Workout Standouts + Game 1 Recap

The 2022 PBR Future Games kicked off Wednesday, July 27th at LakePoint. Team Florida went through their pro-style workout in front of over 300 college coaches. Today we will highlight the standouts from yesterday’s Future Games workout as well as a recap of Game 1 vs Ohio.

Workout Standouts

Tracen Cameron SS / RHP / John Carroll Catholic, FL / 2024

Lean athletic frame that projects well. Cameron impressed defensively. Quick first step, under control with soft hands. Plenty of arm strength in an easy loose arm up to 90 across the diamond. Offensively, showed a fluid path working uphill w/ extension in BP. Gets the swing off attacking the pull side gap for power. 

 

Chris Davila SS / 3B / Sandalwood , FL / 2024

Strong follow all around with barrel accuracy & quick hands at the plate. Long, athletic frame. Mature approach w/ a clean stroke. Looks the part of a true SS. Flashed above average hands in the infield. Moves well on his feet and stays under control. 

 

Jalen Foxx OF / LHP / Seminole, FL / 2025

Athletic frame, hands get through the zone in a hurry. Hard line drives gap 2 gap in BP. Working level to lift efficiently. Athletic actions in the outfield with an easy loose arm from the left side. 

 

Marc Hersh C / 3B / A3 Academy, FL / 2024

Hersh had an impressive round of BP. Hit a handful of deep balls to the pull side and some over the fence. Timed up and in rhythm, efficient hand speed working uphill w/ clean lower half finish. Hersh showed well behind the plate as well. Quick feet, moves out the crouch with ease. Arm strength to the bag at 83 mph. 2.01-2.11 pop times. 

 

Jackson LaLima SS / 3B / IMG Academy, FL / 2024

Physical middle-infielder creates considerable torque in his swing. Bat works flat through the zone w/ ability to launch and power potential to the pull-side. Confident in the box. Above average actions defensively with quick hands. Well above average arm at 94 across the diamond. 

 

Kaiden Lopez OF / RHP / Oviedo , FL / 2024

Lopez impressed all-around during the workout. Ran a 6.85. Showed off a plus arm from the OF up to 96 mph tying the Future Games record. Loose and easy with little effort. Athletic 2-way worked level w/ hard line drive contact gap 2 gap. Present bat speed. Got a hold of a couple to deep pull side. Flashed power potential. 

 

Zane Pestalozzi OF / 1B / Jesuit, FL / 2024

Physical athlete started his day with a 6.63 60 time. Long/athletic frame. Turned in a solid round of BP. Flashed power to pull side gap. Longer path w/ bat speed working level to the baseball. 

 

Jackson Thomas OF / Jesuit, FL / 2024

Athletic 6.63 runner flashed the arm strength up to 90 mph. Quick feet with a lot of athleticism in the OF. Aggressive in the box with loose hands and bat speed. Above average athlete. 

 

 

Game 1 Recap

Game 1 kicked off with ‘24 RHP Andreas Alvarez getting the start. He allowed 2 runs in 2 innings with the fastball up to 90 mph. Following Alvarez was ‘24 RHP Chase Nystrom. He worked 2 solid innings before running into trouble in his 3rd. He still impressed up to 90 mph and flashed a sharp breaking ball.

Offensively, Team Florida scored 4 runs on just 4 hits. In the first, ‘24 Chris Davila doubled which later led to a run. Florida added a few runs in the 4th as ‘24 Ethan Burkhardt drove in a sac-fly following several walks.

‘24s Kyle Boylston, Rylan Lujo, and Marc Hersh all singled in the game and Jackson Thomas drove in our 4th run on a Sac Fly. Team Florida would fall to Team Ohio 11-4.

Team Florida will be back tomorrow at 7 PM against Team Mid-Atlantic.
