Cannons Scout Day: 2023s and 2024s to Follow

Adam Sinkoe
Area Scout

The Cannons Scout Day took place from January 10-12 in Fort Lauderdale and featured over 125 players from the class’ of 2021-2024. There was a lot of talent in each age group and a great early look at a number of potential impact players this spring. Last week we broke down the top statistical performers, which you can find HERE. We also took a look at the initial standouts HERE and some 21's and 22's to follow HERE.

Today, we take a look at 2023s and 2024s who are worth a follow heading into the spring.

Jeffrey Bielec OF / RHP / Boca Raton Community, FL / 2023

Solid frame for projectability on the mound with long levers and a lanky build. Has a high glove to start and stays stacked. Gets downhill with athleticism. Sat 78-80 with the fastball and showed a curveball at 65 and a changeup at 63-64 that have a chance to be above average pitches.

Robert Nedry SS / 2B / Westminster Academy, FL / 2023

Tall, lanky build with some fluidity in the arm. 78-79 with the fastball with much more to come as he matures and strengthens his body. Mixed in an above average curveball at 70-71 with a slurvy shape. It had good depth and the chance to be an out pitch. There’s some offensive potential from the left side. Showed some barrel and gap to gap ability.

Pier Figueroa OF / West Boca Raton, FL / 2023

Moves well in the outfield and around the basepaths. Line drive approach with intent to use his speed from the left handed batters box. Think the arm in the outfield is athletic and will gain a lot of strength.

Charlie Tecza RHP / 1B / Pompano Beach, FL / 2022

Stocky frame with some present strength. Impressed with an above average 3 pitch combo and a lot of strikes. Fastball was 79-81 with some arm side run. Breaking ball was a tight 71 mph slider. The changeup was 69-72 with above average fade. Commanded the offspeed well.

Jack Quick 1B / Palmetto, FL / 2023

Looks the part with a big athletic frame. Broad shoulders and some present strength. Like the projectability on the mound with an athletic arm that puts little stress on. His delivery is low effort and timed well. The lefty sat 74-76, T 77 and showed some feel for 2 offspeed pitches.

Antonio Socarras SS / RHP / N/A, FL / 2024

Advanced athleticism and quickness in his movements. He generates good bat speed with a lot of torque and whip. Showed some tools for potential to be an above average defender in the middle infield. Close follow as he gains strength.

George Stringos SS / RHP / Westminster , FL / 2024

Two-way potential here with a lot of athleticism and a clean arm. Ran a 7.32 sixty with smooth strides. Like the movements and the chance he gets a lot faster and stronger. Fastball up to 76 with an athletic delivery and a quick arm.

Jordan Liss OF / RHP / St. Thomas Aquinas, FL / 2024

Projectability is through the roof with size and athleticism. Coming off injury that had him out for several months, he touched 80 in his first time back on a mound. Good balance and drive downhill. Like the chance he continues to add a lot of velo. Showed a sweeping breaking ball that was sharp at times at 65-68. With improved secondary stuff, he could be a potential impact 2024 arm.

Lazaro Collera 3B / 1B / Doral Academy, FL / 2024

The physical frame really sticks out in his age group. Potential to be a big power bat with present leverage in the swing. Good extension and well above average bat speed. Like him to shift to 3B in the coming years with the big frame.

Rylan Lujo 2B / RHP / Undecided, FL / 2024

Wiry and projectable, he has a ton of two-way potential. A lot of athleticism and quickness in the bat and arm. On the mound, he stays tall but uses the lower half well. 78-79, T80 with a long, loose arm action. Really like his offensive and pitching profile.
