Houston Preseason ID: Quick Hits

KATY, Texas - On January 11th, the PBR Texas staff held the Houston Preseason ID at the unrivaled facility of Cotton Ranch. Despite unideal weather conditions, the event still featured several talented prospects from the 2020-2023 classes. Our featured quick hits notebook is a quick rundown of a few prospects who made a strong impression on our staff.
Quick Hits
Conner Bennett, C, Oak Ridge, 2023
Small framed catcher that showed some natural tools on the day. Behind the plate received the ball well in a comfortable calm setup with quiet hands. Showed natural rhythm and a middle of the field approach in BP, barrel worked through the ball and created backspin line drives consistently.
Jake Tatom , SS, Porter, 2022
Athletic infielder that came out of the gates and ran a 6.88 60-yard dash. Also showed an 86 mph exit velocity as well as throwing 80 mph across the infield. Throws with a long arm path but his athleticism will play at many different positions on the field.
Liam Beausoleil, OF, Hardin, 2021
6-foot-1 athletic outfielder, ran a 6.7 to start his day. Showed some bright spots as well as things that can be improved upon but overall had a nice showing of tools and natural athleticism. Has a natural rhythm in the box as well as feel for the barrel. Made consistent hard contact during BP.
Garet Boehm, SS/RHP, Hutto, 2023
6-foot-1 loose, athletic, projectable frame. Has a natural feel for the game of baseball and plays hard. As a position player, showed 84 mph throws across the diamond as well as an 87 mph exit velo. On the mound showed a repeatable delivery with an over the top arm slot and feel for the strike zone.
Nolan Troy, OF/RHP, Oak Ridge, 2020
Overall had a sound day showing off tools as well as the ability to be accurate with throws and hit consistent line drives during BP. Troy ran a 6.89 60-yard dash as well as throwing 84 mph form the outfield and producing a 90 mph exit velocity from the tee.
