On June 7th the PBR Florida Underclass Games will take place at the University of South Florida which will feature some of the top prospects from the 2019-2021 classes from throughout the state. Leading up to the event, we will highlight some of the prospects who will be in attendance through reports and video. Today we take a look at 2020 RHP/1B Ryan McCauley of East Lake HS, FL

Ryan McCauley RHP / 1B / East Lake, FL / 2020

01/21/17- The 6-foot-4, 200-pound RHP/1B showed command for three above average pitches, and overall excellent feel for how to pitch stood out at PBR Florida’s Preseason All State event. Working his fastball in and out with precision at 81-84, McCauley pitches like an upperclassman who has every understanding of how to disrupt hitter’s timing. With a methodical motion that he calmly repeats every time, McCauley uses a long arm swing that gives way to quick hand speed out of a high ¾ slot. His changeup (69-71) may be his best secondary offering right now with late fade although his curveball shows 11/5 break with tight spin and has a chance to be a swing and miss pitch in the future. McCauley set up hitters masterfully during his short stint on the mound. He spotted each hitter’s weakness, formulated a plan of attack, and executed with ease. Offensively, he shows some strength and an exit velocity of 79 mph. Though tall and athletic, McCauley has not yet filled out physically and his ceiling is high. This will make him a high priority for recruiters this summer
