Hit Factory Mini Camp: Standouts

Doug Freeman
Florida Executive Director

The Hit Factory Mini Camp took place Saturday, June 13th at Berkeley Preparatory School in Tampa, Florida. The event featured prospects from the 2019-2024 classes from the Hit Factory organization participating in a pro-style workout followed by live BP on the field. If you are interested in looking at some of the stat leaders from this event, you can check out our Stats Story

There was a ton of young talent on the field and several players stood among the rest. Take a look at the Hit Factory Mini Camp standouts with a short scouting report on each.

2021

Gavin Sissel RHP / OF / Jesuit, FL / 2021

A stocky frame, but has some present strength. There is some command that needs to improve, but overall showed some adjustability and overall high ceiling. He continues to make strides each time we see him, up to 87 with spin rates at 2300-2450.

Holden Wade LHP / LHP / Sickles, FL / 2021

The uncommitted left-hander showed a loose, live arm with a fastball worked 84-85 mph topping at 87. The fastball has some late, riding life with a peak of 18.7 inches of induced vertical break. The slider has a quality shape and potential, but gets around the pitch at times. Overall, a high ceiling left-hander.

2022

Cameron Cobb OF / OF / Wharton , FL / 2022

Long, lean frame with a somewhat unconventional load. Swing gets on plane and found the barrel for hard line drives in BP and live ABs.

Bennett Weinard 3B / 1B / King, FL / 2022

A stocky frame that will look to lean out as he matures. The bat plays up, uses present strength and above average bat speed. Simple and consistently on the barrel both in BP and live ABs.

2023

Brian Canasi SS / RHP / Tampa Catholic , FL / 2023

A young frame, but present athleticism and high ceiling. Bouncy athlete with functional athleticism defensive. Also showed loose, quick hands with a level swing in BP. Overall athletic, projectable profile.

Bryce Fraga C / 2B / Jesuit , FL / 2023

Moves well defensively, working under control with soft, confident hands and a loose, strong arm. Offensively, he showed an aggressive swing with a compact, slightly uphill path that will continue to improve with strength.

Jaden Holder SS / 2B / Tampa Prep, FL / 2023

A twitchy, athletic infielder with a quick first step. Offensively, he stands tall with a confident and simple load. Works with rhythm while staying compact, swing with quick hands and present bat speed.

2024

Roman Corinti 3B / 1B / Tampa Catholic, FL / 2024

All around smooth and predictable actions. Works with rhythm both defensively and offensively. Offensively the left handed hitter uses the rhythm to stay on time and a slight uphill, compact path to stay on the barrel.

Ruben Ledo RHP / 1B / Tampa Catholic , FL / 2024

Showed and extremely high ceiling with an extremely functional, efficient and clean delivery. Loose arm, gets to elite extension and repeats. Fastball had a very high ceiling and offspeed shows advanced potential as well.

Dean Spoto SS / 2B / Jesuit, FL / 2024

Functional athlete who stands out how well he moves defensively. The swing has present bat speed and some stiffness in BP. But was able to show bat to ball skills in live ABs. Young player with plenty of upside.
