Litsch's Lookback: Week 1

Jesse Litsch
PBR Florida Scouting Director

Litsch’s Lookback is a weekly segment that takes a look back at the standouts from that week around the state of Florida. I will be around the state of Florida covering high school an JUCO games each week and highlighting my biggest standouts in this segment.

This past week, I caught a few games at Jesuit and Berkeley Prep, as well as the Georgiadis Tournament at Seminole High School. Take a look at my biggest Week 1 standouts.

Week 1

2022 Cooper Cross, OF, IMG Academy

Cross the Virginia Tech commit showed out all over the field. He put together some great at bats including a no doubt bomb to right field. He shows a solid left handed swing with quick hands and electric bat speed. Defensively he gets great jumps on balls and tracks very well.

2023 Wes Mendes, LHP/OF, Jesuit

Mendes shows great mound presence and has a loose and live arm. He ran the FB up to 91 mph with effortless motion, he mixes his pitches well with a hard sweeping slider and a good fading CH. He also looks very comfortable at the dish with multiple hits including a homerun to left. Stays short and puts barrel on the ball consistently. Vanderbilt commit.
