Litsch's Lookback: Week 2

Jesse Litsch
PBR Florida Scouting Director

Litsch’s Lookback is a weekly segment that takes a look back at the standouts from that week around the state of Florida. I will be around the state of Florida covering high school an JUCO games each week and highlighting my biggest standouts in this segment.

This past week, I caught a few games in Fort Myers, Orlando, and Clearwater. Our Area Scout Rocco Iervasi got to check out some top prospects from Calvary Christian and I gave my take on them as well. Take a look at my biggest Week 2 standouts.

Week 2

2024 Michael Kalinich, C/ INF, Lake Brantley (ECU)

Highly impressed with Kalinich the ECU commit. He put together some great at bats, shows a solid left handed swing with quick hands and electric bat speed. He sprays the ball the all fields and has ability to launch at times.

2022 Garrett Caropreso, LHP, Lake Brantley

Caropreso shows great mound presence. He mixes his pitches well with a hard sweeping slider and a good fading CH. He attacked hitters to both sides of the plate and did not shy from contact. Congrats to him on throwing a No Hitter.

2022 Zachary Root, LHP, Fort Myers (ECU)

A lot to like from Root. He gets down the hill with ease and has a live and loose arm. He pounds the zone with a legit 4 pitch mix. His fastball has good life and was sitting 89-93 mph, which works well with his off speed. He shows great mound presence and likes to compete, there is tons of upside here.
