No. 11 Bartram Trail wins a wet one 8-3 over Ponte Vedra

Intriguing matchup as #11 Bartram Trail was going up against 2024 Duke commit Matt Hoag of Ponte Vedra. Bartram Trail ran off with the lead in the sixth inning and turned in an 8-3 victory on a wet Tuesday night. 

Ponte Vedra got things moving in the first inning scoring two runs when Parker Gunnell singled to left field. The game was tied at two with Bartram Trail batting in the top of the fifth when 2023 Notre Dame commit Brody DeLamielleure singled on a 1-1 count to right field, scoring one run.

Caleb Allinder and DeLamielleure, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Hunter Pankey was the winning pitcher for Bartram Trail. The right-hander went 5.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits and striking out 2. The Fastball was 85-88 mph with some natural arm side running action and an average Slider at 75-77 mph. Brayden Gilson threw 1.2 innings in relief out of the bullpen to close things out for Bartram Trail. 

Matt Hoag took the loss for Ponte Vedra. The southpaw went 5 innings, allowing 10 hits and 4 runs while striking out 5 and walking 1. The young left-hander competed against a very talented lineup with a Fastball at 86-88 and topping at 89 mph and an average breaking ball at 71-73 mph. 

Bartram Trail finished the game with 14 hits. 

DeLamielleure, Kolt Myers, Jacob Kendall, Allinder, and Justin Mann all collected multiple hits for Bartram Trail. 

DeLamielleure went 3-4, 2 RBI’s.
