Northside Christian Races Past Berkeley Prep 9-2

Thursday night Northside Christian traveled to #25 Berkeley Prep where they had an intense back and forth battle until the end. 

Ronald Causby, a Miami recruit, got the ball for Northside and he certainly did not disappoint. The sophomore displayed three different pitches all of which showed promise. Causby’s fastball sat 87-89 touching 90 with armside run. He also mixed in a changeup in the low 80’s that kept hitters off balance and a curveball that generated swings and misses from the Berkeley lineup. Causby finished his outing with only one earned run over 6 innings and limited Berkeley to just one hit while striking out seven.

Joshua Reiter got Northside's scoring started with an RBI single in the top of the second making it 1-0. Northside added another run in the third on a Trevor Jones sac fly to make it 2-0.

Berkeley’s James Hankerson answered the call and sent a single to right center to get them on the board in the bottom of the third and reduce the deficit to 2-1.

Sophomore Trimble Henderson got the start for Berkeley on the mound. He worked 4.2 innings allowing two runs while striking out five.

Northside added two more runs in the 6th on an error and a sac fly to go up 4-1. Berkeley added one of their own to make it 4-2 after 6.

In the 7th, Northside Christian broke the game open. Two runs scored on an error. Domenic Fernandez added an RBI double. Andrew Williamson and Trevor Jones added RBI singles to make the score 9-2.

Davian Giles took the ball in the bottom of the 7th in relief of Causby and closed the game with a final score of 9-2 in favor of Northside Christian.
