Power Baseball Upgrade: 2020/2021s Breakdown

Orlando, FL- From August 18-20th one of the top organizations in central Florida, Power Baseball, held their Fall 2017 Tryouts for players from the 2018-2021 classes. Players participated in bullpens on Friday night, went through a full pro-style workout on Saturday, and finally ended the weekend on Sunday with a game.

Below is a breakdown of the 2020/2021s in attendance that added the PBR Upgrade option:

Austin Tanner RHP / 3B / Windermere Prep, FL / 2020

Stands at 5-foot-11, 155 pounds with a lean, athletic build. From the mound he has an up-tempo windup with a big leg kick along with some extension out in front on his delivery. Throws from the high ¾ slot with short, quick arm action. Attacks hitters. Fastball mostly sat 78-80 mph along with a 69-70 mph curveball that showed shape. Clock in at 7.55 seconds for his 60 yard dash time. From the outfield he took good routes to the ball and showed carry on his throws that topped out at 79 mph. In the infield he fielded the ball with confidence and under control with accurate throws to the bag topping out at 74 mph. At the plate he shows a short, quick swing through the zone with line drive potential. His athleticism and presence on the mound will continue to make him a good follow.

 

 

Drew Dizney SS / 2B / The First Academy, FL / 2020

Stands at 5-foot-9, 148 pounds with athleticism. Simple windup and repeats well. Featured a fastball that sat 76-79 mph along with a 66-67 mph curveball and a 73-74 mph change up that showed some fade. At times can fall off the first base side, but when he lands in line has a good command of the strike zone. At the plate starts from a slightly open stance with quick hands through the zone which lead to consistent contact during practice. Shows actions in the field where he ranged to his right and left while making the plays with accurate throws that topped out at 73 mph across the diamond.

 

 

Jacob Crews 1B / RHP / West Orange , FL / 2021

Stands at 6-foot-2, 210 pounds on a large, strong frame. At the plate starts from a wide stance with a small leg kick for his load. Strength in his swing and when he is on time, can really square the ball up. Ball jumps off the bat and has an uphill path through the zone after contact. Power potential. On the mound has a simple windup with a big leg kick in his delivery. Fastball mostly sat in 76-78 mph range with some run while mixing in a 67-69 mph curveball and a 71-72 mph changeup. Lands in line most of the time, but occasionally can fall off to the third base side on his follow through. Strong, young player to follow as he continues to mature.

 

 

Robert Weinstein 1B / 3B / Lake Highland Prep, FL / 2021

Stands at 5-foot-7, 160 pounds with a solid build. At the plate starts with a wide stance and a small leg kick for his load. Rocks back for timing and rhythm before his hands come through the zone. When he let the ball travel into his zone and kept the weight on his back foot, he showed the ability to make contact on the ball and use all of the field. In the outfield he fielded the ball cleanly with his throws topping out at 60 mph to the bag. In the infield he fielded the ball under control with his throws topping out at 61 mph across the diamond. 

 

 

Braden Wayne RHP / OF / West Orange, FL / 2020

Stands at 5-foot-11, 130 pounds with a tall, lean build. On the mound he throws out of the stretch from the low ¾ slot that creates some deception in his delivery. Fastball mostly worked at 67-70 mph with some run along with a 62-63 mph changeup. Should see a jump in his velocity as he utilizes his lower half more. At the plate he starts with a slightly open stance with a simple approach with an uphill path through the zone. From the outfield his throws topped out at 66 mph to the bag. Clocked in at 8.07 seconds for his 60 yard dash time. 

 

 

Riley Parker C / 3B / Windermere Prep, FL / 2022

Stands at 5-foot-11, 175 pounds with a strong, athletic build. At the plate starts from an open stance with a quick bat through the zone. Strong hands and wrists. Creates hard contact and displayed the ability to drive the ball into the outfield with gap-to-gap potential. Behind the plate shows the ability to receive the ball well along with his throws topping out at 68 mph to second. Pop times ranged in the 2.15-2.22 second range. Young player who has a good understanding of the game and whose overall game will continue to improve as he matures.

 

 

Joel Haskin RHP / 2B / Real Life Christian Academy, FL / 2020

Stands at 5-foot-10, 160 pounds with a solid, athletic build. On the mound has a simple windup throwing out of the high ¾ slot. Works with a quick pace and featured a fastball that sat 78-81 mph with run along with a 66-68 mph curveball with some depth and a 70-72 mph changeup. Throws strikes and shows good poise on the mound. At the plate starts with a wide base and a small leg kick for his load and an uphill path through the zone. During batting practice he consistently made contact and showed the ability to use all of the field. In the field he showed fluid actions and made all the plays with his throws across the diamond topping out at 71 mph. 

 

 

Walker Adlam RHP / West Orange, FL / 2020

Stands at 5-foot-9, 148 pounds with athleticism. Simple windup and repeats well. Featured a fastball that sat 76-79 mph along with a 66-67 mph curveball and a 73-74 mph change up that showed some fade.
