X-FACTOR

Timmy Manning - Manning is one of the top pitchers in the entire country and should see his name called come draft time in June. Until then, he will be tasked with trying to lead Cardinal Gibbons back to states. With his low 90’s fastball, Manning will need another big year on the mound for the Chiefs to have success again in 2020.

KEY PLAYERS LOST
Kevin Hirsch, C, 2019
Keanu Buerosse, RHP, 2019

OUTLOOK
Cardinal Gibbons is coming off a season that led them to the state final four. They had a relatively young team last year, and will have most of their starters back to make another run. They will have a chip on their shoulders after losing in the state championship game. On the mound, the Chiefs return their ace in LHP Timmy Manning (Florida). Manning went 7-1 with a 1.59 ERA and 91 strikeouts last year. They also return sophomore David Rossow, who has made a significant jump on the mound since the summer. Offensively, the Chiefs lose one of their biggest bats from last season in Kevin Hirsch. Hirsch batted .375 with 8 HRs and 28 RBI in 2019. Offensively, they return their two top average leaders in Trevor Kole and Michael Higgins. Kole batted .443 and Higgins batted .392 in 2019. Cardinal Gibbons also added Virginia commit Ben Petri to their lineup via transfer, and his impact should be felt early. After losing in the state championship game, the Chiefs have what it takes to get back and should have another chance at a state championship.
