season preview

The Jackrabbits enter the spring anew following a dazzling 2016 season where Bowie marched all the way to the regional state semifinals. Despite losing three seniors from a year ago, head coach Ryan Rogers still has plenty in the tank going forward. The fundamentally-sound Keck Jones is prepped to again rove the middle infield for the Jackrabbits, looking like a lock to slot somewhere atop the lineup. Veteran Cooper Huffstutler and senior catcher Pete Cunningham will be tasked with providing much needed pop in the middle of the order.

As for the pitching, seniors Gabe Allen and Cody Tyler will rotate with an abundance of younger arms in an attempt to match the consistency of last year’s rotation. Keep an eye on Heston Tole, a lanky 6-foot-4 third baseman, already garnering a slugging reputation as a freshman and currently ranked #35 Overall in the PBR National Ranking. Tole, an Arkansas commit, has “plenty of room to grow into his frame” according to Rogers, and is “wise beyond his years”. The right-handed Tole is also likely to add insurance to the pitching staff as well.
