Game 1

Team Florida bounced back in the first game of a back to back double header with a 6-4 win versus Team Oklahoma. McCall Biemiller got the start and attacked hitters from the get-go. He allowed only one hit and one run in 4 innings of action to set up the Florida squad for weekend play. Andrew White pitched 2 innings of relief while striking out 3 and Ian Barnes also threw an inning.

Frankie Randall got things rolling for the offensive side by shooting a ball through the left side of the infield to score Jason Coss. Julian Hernandez is starting to put together some offense to go along with his solid catching as he laced two triples today with an RBI. Connor Spink also had an RBI with Bryce Vance and Gavin Howard tacking on hits for Team Florida.

Game 2

Team Florida and Team Arkansas duked it out in an exciting back and forth matchup that ended in a 7-6 Florida win on JaMarques Benton’s steal of home in the bottom of the 6th. After runs in 3 of the first 4 innings, Team Florida let a 3-1 lead slip away in the 5th and found themselves down 4-3. A sac fly from Gavin Howard tied the game at 4 but Team Arkansas would storm back again to score 2 and take a 6-4 lead.  

Team Florida wouldn’t be denied, though, as they quickly put runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs. An RBI groundout by Julian Hernandez set the stage for Benton to tie the game with a liner to left scoring Frankie Randall from first. With Benton now standing at third after a stolen base and passed ball, Ian Barnes stepped up with a chance to win the game. After 2 quick strikes Benton saw the Arkansas pitcher go from the windup and took off for home just beating the tag from the catcher to walk it off due to time limit. Team Florida will play again tomorrow against West Virginia in the final game of pool play.

Jason Coss started the second game and went 3 innings giving up only one run. Julian Hernandez also pitched two innings. Connor Spink, Gavin Howard, Hernandez and Benton all had RBIs to lead their team.
