Team Florida JFG: Workout Day Quick Hits/Game 1 Recaps

The 2023 PBR Junior Future Games kicked off Tuesday, July 15 at Lakepoint Sports in Emerson, GA. Tuesday night, Team Florida participated in the JFG workout featuring the 60 yard dash, on field batting practice, and defensive workouts.

13u Game 1 Recap

Team Florida 13u took on Ohio Wednesday in Game 1 of their Junior Future Games. Yariel Diaz got the start for Florida, going three innings with four strikeouts and two runs allowed. Ohio went up early 2-0 on a few Team Florida errors. Down 3-0 in the fifth, Team Florida came storming back. Aiden Kearney tripled off the wall to score two, and later scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at 3-3. In the bottom of the fifth, Ohio would take back their lead. A two RBI triple followed by an RBI single gave Ohio a 6-3 lead, and that's how the score would end up. Team Florida 13u drops their first game 6-3.

14u Game 1 Recap

Team Florida 14u took on Mid-Atlantic in their first game of the 2023 Junior Future Games. It was a high scoring affair on both sides. Hunter Wieckowksi got the start for Florida going three innings. He struck out two allowing six runs. Florida got on the board early with two in the first. CJ Wall singled in a run. Mid-Atlantic added one in the first, but McClain Lewis extended Florida's lead in the second to 3-1 with an RBI single.

In the second, Mid-Atlantic scored four runs to go up 5-3. Top of the third following an Ashton Cox triple, CJ Wall doubled in a run. Jackson Haughey and Jake Churchman added RBI doubles as well. Team Florida took an 8-5 lead. Mid-Atlantic got one back in the third. In the 5th, down 8-6 Mid-Atlantic attempted a comeback. A single and walk put runners on. After scoring one, Mid-Atlantic had the tying and winning run on base. Dillow singled up the middle scoring two and walked things off for Mid-Atlantic. They would win 9-8 in a nail biter.
