13U Claims the Two Seed after a 1-0-1 Day

Game 1 vs Louisiana

Team Florida 13U squared off against Louisiana in game 1 of the winners bracket culminating in a 6-6 tie deadlock. Once again, the Florida boys came out swinging, scoring 2 runs in each of the first 3 innings. Dayson Griffis led the way going 2-3 with an RBI triple and walk. Nolan McClanahan added an RBI single and Cam Uzzillia came through with a long sac fly. Rivers Kurland (1-2, BB) and Ayden Phillips (2B) also contributed offensively. Jacob Kendall started on the bump for Team Florida and went 4 innings, giving up 5 runs on 5 hits while walking 3 and striking out 4. Cooper Moss followed and worked 1.2 innings with no runs on 2 hits and 2 Ks. Dayson Griffis finished the game out compiling a line of 1.1 IP 0 R 0 H 0 BB 1 K. Louisiana fought hard to stay in the game the whole as Florida couldn’t break the tie in the 7th.


Game 2 vs Mississippi 

Team Florida stayed hot at the JR Future Games as the 13U advanced to the Final Six and will receive a bye after defeating Mississippi 2-1. Rivers Kurland worked through some early struggles to turn in a dazzling start on the mound going the distance, only giving up 1 run on 4 hits, and 5 Ks. The offense was led by JaMarques Benton, (2-3, 2B, 3B, RBI) Ayden Phillips, (2-2, RBI 2B, BB) and Charlie Stumberger (1-3, 3B). Florida 13U is locked in as the No. 2 seed and will receive a first round bye.
