The 2024 Georgia high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in mid-May inside one of Coolray Field, AdventHealth Stadium, or JI Clements Stadium at Georgia Southern University. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week and updating the Power 25 rankings.

TEAM OUTLOOK

Leading off with a starting rotation that’s chock-full of SEC commits, Brookwood and Coach Robby Gilbert bring immense talent and expectations into the 2024 season. On paper, the three-headed monster of RHP Jackson Barberi (Florida), LHP Charlie Foster (Georgia), and RHP Clinton Harris (Auburn) are among the best staffs in the country and will be counted upon to carry this Broncos team throughout the spring. You add in talented junior Cristian Mendez to the staff and the rich, get richer. The bullpen will be deep with experienced seniors as well and will be highly beneficial in regional play. Behind the plate for this impressive staff while leading the offense is senior and Georgia commit Preston Bonn, who looks to improve on a .351 season where he led Brookwood with 25 RBI. Uncommitted senior 3B VJ Heath will look to provide big-time production once again after leading the Broncos with 10 doubles while hitting .368 as a junior. Tremendous athleticism and production returns in the outfield highlighted by one of the intriguing uncommitted seniors in the state in CF John Beverley, who returns after leading Brookwood in average (.368), hits (32), and stolen bases (24) all while playing an above-average centerfield defensively. Preseason All-State standout OF Mason Archie will be a lock alongside Beverley with potential for even more growth this spring after an impressive .349 year as a barely 15 year old sophomore in 2023. The upperclass talent is deep for the Broncos but look for a pair of sophomores in C/DH Alex Reyes and 3B Boomer Rogozinski to expand on their roles after both playing 20+ games as freshmen. It’s rare to see a pitching staff in high school with this much talent and paired with this returning offense, the Broncos are prepared to greatly improve on their 19 wins last spring and be a potential region favorite.
