Ian Smith
Assistant Scouting Director

The 2024 Georgia high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in mid-May inside one of Coolray Field, AdventHealth Stadium, or JI Clements Stadium at Georgia Southern University. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week and updating the Power 25 rankings.

TEAM OUTLOOK

With a roster that’s slap-full of D1 commits and returning all-region starters, Starr’s Mill is bringing one of the teams to beat in Region 4-4A. The offense will be led by an experienced group of senior outfielders in Bo Walker (Georgia Tech), Heath Whitlock (Mississippi State), Austin Killingsworth (Georgia State) and Charlie Clem, who can compete with any outfield group in the state. Middle infield will remain a strength for the Panthers this spring with Georgia State commit Austin Sellers and multi-sport talent Max Prozny returning to provide impact both with the bat and in the dirt. The 1-2 punch of MTSU commit RHP Drew Richardson and Whitlock on the mound gives Starr’s Mill a talented and experienced front of the rotation, with good depth behind featuring senior Jack Ryan and junior Aiden Wilson. The Panthers will be counting on solid contributions from a few talented underclassmen including sophomore Georgia commit and potential starting 3B Brock Rein along with utility sophomore Xander Sholar, who will be vital in the bullpen. Starr’s Mill has the pieces to check a lot of boxes heading into this spring, and could be special if all goes right.
