The 2024 Georgia high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in mid-May inside one of Coolray Field, AdventHealth Stadium, or JI Clements Stadium at Georgia Southern University. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

TEAM OUTLOOK

• In 2023 the Sharks made a 1st round appearance in the class 4A state playoffs. With the 2024 season just around the corner, Coach Collins and the Sharks look to make a deep playoff run with a heavy Senior class, and very experienced group. The pitching staff will be led by two Seniors, Johnny Calloway (Army Commit) and Braiden Swab (East Georgia Commit). Senior Joey Cardillo (Milligan University Commit) will play a big role at SS and will be expected to produce at the plate. Senior Ben Fernandez (Miles College Commit) will bring the power to the lineup and play 1B. Three Juniors will play big roles in the Sharks success, Dylan Gordon, Brendan Lanigan, and Jacob Meza. Gordon and Lanigan will have quality roles out of the bullpen, and Meza will be a key contributor on the infield. Newcomer in the 2026 class, Dylan Stewart will look to contribute in the success of the Islands Sharks in 2024.
