Prep Baseball Fall Upperclass World Series: Scout Blog
Bear Friske, 3B/OF, 2027, Cape Henry Collegiate (VA)
Dirtbags 2027’s Skrap Pak
Uncommitted. “A man on a mission” as Friske ended the tournament with 9-hits and loud contact in nearly every single at-bat. Physical, broad-shouldered 6-foot-0, 195-pounds with real impact in the barrel and present tools defensively. Advanced zone awareness with excellent body control and creates good barrel length in-zone while showing an aptitude to use the entire field. Heavy, accurate stick that lives in the zone forever backed by present bat speed with feel to change planes across all quadrants. Coils into his back hip well through the load and minimal wasted effort in the RH swing. Hammered both spin and velocity across each showing backed by strong pitch recognition. Plus arm-strength could carry the defensive profile at the hot corner with athleticism and instincts to profile across the grass as well. Must know uncommitted name and stock will only continue to skyrocket with this type of continued production during the High School season.
Colby Jones, 3B, 2027, South Central (NC)
Dirtbags 2027’s All Blacks
UNC Wilmington commit. Extremely loud showing in the box across the entire tournament, Jones produced 100+ exits at will. Came through with two long home-runs to the pull-side as well as a flurry of other hard-hit extra-base knocks in multiple big spots across the tournament. 6-foot-1, 180-pounds and well-connected left-handed cut with ability to create easy carry to all-fields. Simple setup with and stays balanced through impact with minimal wasted effort throughout. Snappy barrel through the zone with obvious barrel feel in an uphill path and leverage to match. Would look to hunt early in counts but often shows the ability to spoil tough pitches with 2-strikes. Athletic in the dirt with soft hands and instincts to make tough plays in all directions at the hot corner. Simply one of the best showings across the fall circuit at LakePoint and stock all the way up for Jones with a huge senior year on tap.
Jack Taylor, C/1B, 2028, Parkview
Dingers Scout
Uncommitted. The Parkview junior racked up a plethora of hits in multiple looks across various staff while showing well through the bracket play run. Stout 5-foot-10, 184-pounds with present strength at the dish with feel to hit that showed at a high-level all weekend. Quiet setup with body control and great hands in-zone backed by the ability to adjust to both velo and spin. Aptitude to work line-to-line with advanced awareness and pitch recognition to match. Loose wrists with a heavy barrel and keeps a flat path while generating loads of strength from the lower half. Good actions behind the plate with fluid footwork and present arm strength. Flexibility at 1B as well and chance to continue to grow into the overall profile. The feel to hit is very real and after earning a starting role midway through the spring last season, Taylor is set up to be one of the major factors for the Panthers in ‘27.
Hammond Bryant, C, 2029, North Hall
SmarTense 18U The Show
One of the youngest players at the event, Bryant showed extremely well in my look while playing up against quality competition. Drove one over the left-field wall Sunday afternoon for a 3-run home-run and consistently did a job to flip the lineup over. Compact strength and athleticism throughout the 5-foot-9, 168-pound frame with present tools to project in the profile. Quiet actions in the box and utilizes a simple trigger to stay balanced through impact. Minimal wasted effort in a tight window while staying extremely compact and creates leverage through the zone with ability to lift to the pull-side. Budding tools behind the plate as well with athleticism in the crouch and excellent receiving ability and stole plenty of strikes throughout. It’s a well-rounded skillset for Bryant that is only going to steadily improve in due time, and has a real chance to step into a large role behind the plate in the spring.
Camren Naggles, 3B/RHP, 2028, Whitewater
Canes Southeast Upperclass
Uncommitted. Standout showing for Naggles during my look at Canes in Pool Play. Physical, athletic 5-foot-9, 185-pounds with projection and present two-way tools. Came through with an early pull-side double and then tossed 3.2 innings pitched of no-run ball while striking out 5 in a key spot. Stays well-connected through the slight hanging load in the box with good separation and ground-force strength. Hands work really well through the zone with length and present barrel accuracy in an on-plane path. On the mound, Naggles works from a methodical delivery with an aggressive drive downhill and loose arm stroke from a three-quarters slot. Fastball shows arm-side life out of the hand with command to either half of the plate and produced plenty of whiffs in the zone, and weak outs at 86-88 (T89 MPH). Late depth slider that shows advanced feel to tunnel and pairs really well off the fastball at 74-77 for swing-and-miss. Sparingly mixed in a changeup that rounds out the Wendell with budding feel to spot at the bottom of th zone and fade action at 71-73. Naggles has been an intriguing two-way follow over the years and a breakout 2027 circuit could be looming.
Kyle Montgomery, C/1B, 2027, Lassiter
643 Cougars Grinders Club
The 2025 Future Gamer and Bryant baseball commit was seeing beach balls in the midst of a championship week for the Grinders Club. Stout 6-foot-0, 219-pound frame generates tremendous strength from the ground up with present barrel feel in the well-leveraged path that shows minimal wasted effort. It felt like extra bases for Montgomery every time he stepped in the box as he picked up 95+ EVs across the field in every situation including an impressive no-stride 2k swing that showed immense zone coverage that resulted in multiple hard-hit knocks. Overall, Montgomery would pick up hits in every game on the week including a HR and 4 2B. The defensive profile for the senior is strong both behind the plate and at first base with soft hands and great flexibility in the lower half that really stands out. Accurate arm strength that plays up in-game including putting down a 1.87 pop for a caught stealing in the championship. Montgomery has built a strong well-rounded profile that has a chance to provide immediate impact at the next level alongside being a major leader for Lassiter this upcoming spring.
Austin Neese, 3B, 2027, North Gwinnett
Team Elite Black
The barrel has been heavy for Neese throughout 2026 and the last few weeks of the fall have really brought that sediment home. Physical 6-foot-3, 205-pound frame could have an above-average to plus power ceiling and the ability to tap into it in-game has grown significantly. Opened the week with a 3-for-3 performance that stems from a very well-connected swing from the right-side that creates easy barrel length in-zone while flashing the ability to adjust as well. Generated 95+ EVs every time the ball touched the barrel while carrying the deepest part of the yard for multiple extra-base hits on the week. Defensive profile plays at either corner infield spot with present above-average arm strength paired with strong lateral actions. Neese is one of the true power bats remaining in Georgia’s 2027 class and could have the type of profile to help put a recruiting class over the top.
Dylan Honore, SS, 2027, Hillgrove
643 Cougars Grinders Club
The Kennesaw State commit quietly put together one of the better weeks across the week, flashing an above-average glove at short paired with the innate bat-to-ball skills. The lateral range for Honore was on display on multiple occasions, showing ability to bend and make accurate throws consistently from every arm angle. Confidence to attack in any direction was evident and would steal surefire hits more than once on the week. On the other side of the ball, Honore would put together quality at-bats nearly every time in the box that resulted in a couple multi-hit games on the week. Stays compact from the right-side with ability to match planes in zone and showing sneaky ability to carry balls to all-fields as well. There’s carrying tools in the profile in both the glove and plus to plus-plus speed that help strengthen one of the higher floors of any MIF in the class.
Jensen Kown, RHP, 2027, Walker School
643 Cougars 18U
The recent Sewanee commit would come out Friday night and set the tone with a bullying no-hit performance in the run-rule win for the Cougs. Starter profile with ability to repeat a bigger rocker step delivery well paired with a near over-the-top arm slot that creates a tough angle. Fastball got better as the outing went on, working 85-89 throughout and grabbing 90s in the 4th and 5th to close the door. Generates some carry through the zone paired with arm-side run that created in-zone misses throughout the outing. Kown will mix a pair of breaking balls with distinct shapes and present feel to spin. Tighter slider at 74-77 will hold the fastball tunnel well and late bite to freeze hitters from both sides. Curveball has more depth with two-plane break at 73-74 and will run away from the barrel to RHH. Changeup shows some intrigue in the low-80s with ability to tunnel and feel to land consistently for strikes. The entire profile has methodically made strides throughout the year and putting it all together this fall.
Bryce Floyd, RHP, 2028, Holy Innocents
Prostock Baseball Club 17U
What’s new? Another big moment and another big performance from the 2026 Future Gamer. Floyd would throw a CG against one of the best lineups in the event, allowing just 2 H and 2 ER to close out pool play. The RHP had the whippy arm speed and full mix on display throughout while flashing pitch sequencing throughout. Fastball remains a weapon living 88-91 throughout, with significant arm-side run that will generate swing-and-miss throughout the zone. Slider feel is good as you’ll find in Georgia’s junior class with advanced feel to spin (2600+ RPM) and sharp horizontal movement that he manipulates well. Floyd would flash the makings of a mid-80s cutter that played well against LHH and would pair nicely alongside the rest of the mix. Changeup remains a quality offering for Floyd with tumbling action that can generate whiffs to both sides of the plate at 80-82. Regardless of the setting, Floyd was one of the most trusted arms across 2026 and looks like a surefire D1 talent with much more to tap into down the road.
Kendall Turner, MIF, 2027, Redan
GBSA Rays
Memphis commit. Turner put together a quality tournament both at the plate and in the field, highlighted by a homerun he hit Saturday afternoon. Stout 5-foot-8, 172-pound build with athleticism throughout. Turner showed a quality feel for the barrel, producing loud contact consistently across the weekend. The righty features a balanced load with a twitchy lower half, showcasing the ability to get the barrel to inside pitches, sending one deep to left field for a solo homerun with a 93 exit velocity that went 356-feet to the pull-side. The shortstop also shows fluid actions in the field, which paired with his athleticism makes an intriguing defensive profile. The rising senior will prove to be a key contributor for Redan High School this spring, and look to carry that into his collegiate career at the University of Memphis.
Luke Donaldson, 1B/RHP, 2027, River Ridge
6-4-3 DP Grinders Club Cougars
Texas Tech Commit. Donaldson put together an impressive tournament at the plate, headlined by a go-ahead grand slam he hit Saturday afternoon. Athletic 6-foot-3, 165-pound frame with plenty of projection physically. The righty features a strong base and a compact swing, with a quality feel to get the barrel on plane. Displayed a mature approach in the box by working a deep count in a high pressure situation, and delivered with a 92 EV, 363-foot homerun to left center field. WIth the hit tool already showing and clear power upside, the rising senior looks to continue to impress at the plate through his senior year at River Ridge High School, and into his collegiate career at Texas Tech University.
Seth Harper, 1B, 2027, Perry
Atlanta Braves Scout
Southern Union State commit. Harper had a great tournament hitting .500 overall with a couple 1B’s and one XBH. He brings power and a physical presence to the plate showing in all his hits being 87+ EV’s. The recent Southern Union commit had a great game on Saturday with some really strong AB’s and the hit tool came through in the clutch for his team. In his 2nd AB, he tripled on a FB middle-middle, driving in a run, and drove it to the base of the RF wall showing off the bat speed through the zone. Harper would work a big AB in his last plate appearance and had a really nice 2K approach scorching the elevated heater into RF for a 2R 1B which would also include the go ahead run. He would continue to thrive offensively on Sunday with a 1 for 2 day and have a good showing in the fall circuit. The powerful 6-foot-4, 195-pound frame shows and there is premium juice in the LH cut with an ability to find the barrel in all portions of the zone. There is a ton to love about the 1B and he will be a big name to watch in the spring with Perry.
Brantlee McCoy, SS, 2028, South Paulding
Hotshots Scout
Uncommitted. McCoy was impressive against a strong LYNX Scout squad. The SS showed easy power potential in a couple of cuts through 2 AB’s on the day. With his first at bat of the game, he smoked a pitch to RF with an opposite field approach but had nothing to show for it with a good play from the RF’er. He took that same approach to his last AB and smoked a 3-1 FB into LF for a 1B at 89 EV off the bat. McCoy has an aggressive weight transfer in his swing with innate bat speed in the zone. There is notable power in the stocky 5-foot-7, 160-pound frame with easy gap-to-gap pop. He has the ability to put the ball in play and make something happen with simple B2B skills and speed that creates chaos on the bases. McCoy also has sneaky strength in the arm at SS with range across the dirt. He is starting to make a name for himself as the tools are starting to show in gameplay and he will be exciting to watch with South Paulding this next spring.
Liam Lowe, OF, 2028, North Paulding
Nelson Baseball School
Uncommitted. Lowe put on a show on Sunday with the bat and continues to tick up in projection. He didn’t waste much time in the 1st getting a ball out over the plate and crushed it to the LF wall picking up an easy triple as a result. When he came up in the next AB, he scorched a 1B into LF putting the PS juice on display. Lowe has a stout 5-foot-9, 170-pound frame with a lot of room to still fill out and he utilizes his body to bring chaos on the bases. The RH swing is a thing of beauty with an explosive lower half as he fires quick hands through the zone with innate B2B skills that always come up big. During his 2nd at bat, he showed his sheer strength when he was out in front of a pitch and still managed to get it into LF for the base knock. Lowe also has an A-A eye for the zone and is not afraid to take a base if that’s what is needed. Lowe is going to be a crucial pickup for any team at the next level and he’s not even at his strongest yet.
Beau Albritton, 3B/1B, 2028, Harrison
Nelson Baseball School
Uncommitted. Albritton had a strong tournament and showed off the B2B skills throughout the weekend. He had two strong pieces of hitting in early counts while showing in an all fields approach. Albritton was able to get to the inner half of the ball on an inside FB and went inside out with it, shooting it to RF for a 1B. He is well-balanced in his stance with a quick and short path to the ball while staying back, hitting off a strong backside. Albritton is trending up with tools to project from and is exciting to watch in gameplay.
Owen Shipley, C, 2028, Sonoraville
Smartense
Uncommitted. Shipley had some big hits this past tourney and a strong look on both sides of the ball. Throughout a couple days, he found some barrels in key spots and came up clutch for his squad. On Sunday, he torched a 2B down the LF line and stayed on it by keeping length in the zone. He stays on his backside really well and has quiet actions in his forward stride keeping his head down as he delivers the barrel to the ball. Shipley is not new to the lights as he has performed well in past tournaments as well and continues to find barrels in the zone. He has also performed under the showcase setting and put up strong numbers which has translated to games. He is going to finish out the fall with a strong showing and be a key component with Sonoraville in the spring.
Chandler Hill, SS, 2027, Eastern Carolina Academy
Dirtbags SkrapPak
East Carolina commit.
Perhaps the most complete player of the tournament this weekend was 2027 SS and East Carolina commit Chandler Hill. The RHH has a keen eye at the plate laying off of tough pitches and doing damage with pitches in the zone. He hits from a relatively even base with limited pre pitch movement. Chandler used all parts of the field to hit hard, backspun line drives. The 6’0” 165 pound frame is intriguing because there is a lot of room for him to get stronger. Defensively, Chandler was nearly flawless and was making difficult plays look easy all weekend. The range and arm strength immediately stand out. Chandler was able to get to balls deep in the 6 hole and had enough arm strength to make strong, accurate throws. The internal clock and instincts are what also set him apart. Being able to go to his right, left, or come in at ease is why you can project that he can stay at the shortstop position beyond high school. One of the more polished players in his class.
Kip Allen, SS 2029, Whitley County
AASA National
You would not have known that Kip Allen was one of the youngest players in this tournament based on how he played. At 5’11’ 173 pounds, everything Kip hit seemed to be hard. The swing is extremely loose and whippy. Kip utilizes a wide base in his LHH stance and lets his hands do a lot of the work. He was able to barrel FB’s and CH/BB’s all weekend going 3-8 with a walk and an RBI in three games. The bat bath is direct to the ball and there is not much swing and miss. Fluid actions at SS with plus arm strength.s Kip can move well laterally that allows him to make an array of plays at SS. This is a guy that can be a middle of the order bat at the next level. Interesting prospect.
Bobby Wooten, 3B/SS 2027, Stratford Academy
Factory National
Uncommitted. Bobby Wooten will not be uncommitted for much longer. The RHH IF has tools across the board. In the box, the bat speed immediately stands out at 5’11” 175 pounds Wooten walked a decent bit this weekend but when a pitch was in the zone, he hammered it. The set up in the box is simple and is consistently on time. Showed pullside power and the ability to stay in the middle of the field. Booten absolutely glides on the base paths as speed is a big part of his game. In the IF, he has smooth actions with an arm that can stay on the left side of the infield. An extremely versatile player, he could also be an asset in the OF. The best pure athlete on the field every game. Profile projects for more strength.
Zazil Schoop, IF/OF 2027, Georgia Premier
Atlanta Braves Scout Team
Uncommitted. Zazil Schoop had a huge weekend with the bat. Hitting two home runs with the first one to LF at 405ft and 99EV. The second homerun to LF at 363ft and 93EV. The 2027 IF/OF produces big power at the plate from a no stride stance. Moves very quickly and explosively in the box and the power comes easy. The patience is also very impressive. While a lot of pitchers were pitching around him, he did not expand the zone and took his walks. Plays with a lot of energy and can be a major contributor to a line up at the next level. Looked good at 3B.
Carson Carroll, IF/RHP, Broughton High School
Dirtbags Skrap Pack
UNC Pembroke commit Carson Carrol impressed on the mound collecting 6 SO’s in 3.1 IP and only allowing one walk. Pitching from a high ¾ arm slot, the FB sat 84-85 and topped at 88. The 6’2” 192 pound RHP mixed speeds and zones all game which kept hitters off balance. The FB used at the top of the zone complemented his BB well which was a big out pitch. The BB sat at 75-77 and had a late, sharp break. Had multiple shapes to the breaking ball that he could place anywhere he wanted. Worked with a quick tempo and pounded the strike zone. Showed the ability to throw the FB by hitters or flip a BB over early in the count to get ahead. Loose arm path and worked downhill well. Great competitor.
Eli Christian, C, 2027, Eastside
6-4-3 Cougars
Charleston Southern commit. The highlight of Eli Christian’s weekend came in pool play when he stepped to the dish with bases loaded, 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th, and blasted a walk-off grand slam over the left-field wall at 93 EV. It was a loud cut that showcased Christian’s ability to catch fastballs out in front and consistently punish them for extra bases. A stout 5-foot-10, 170-pound frame, Christian starts open before taking a toe-tap load that helps him create separation across his torso, generating power he uses to drive the ball with serious impact. Importantly, he pairs his aggressive swing with a mature approach, laying off breaking balls below the zone and waiting for heaters he can ambush. A versatile defender around the diamond, Christian projects to stick behind the dish at the next level, where his premium athleticism helps him keep everything in front of him. He’ll also make appearances in the dirt at 3B where his strong arm and athleticism translate. He’ll look to cap off a strong high school career at Eastside before moving on to play D1 ball at Charleston Southern.
Jackson Bryan, SS/C, 2027, Denmark
USA Scout National
Uncommitted. Bryan put on a show in pool play, highlighted by a double, a triple, and 2 RBIs. At 5-foot-10 and 160 pounds, Bryan gets bigger and stronger with each look, with strong bat-to-ball skills. Starting with a narrow stance, Bryan times a leg-kick load well, keeps a flat path through the zone, and adjusts to pitches at all levels of the strike zone. He’ll post up on his front leg, looking to catch fastballs out in front that he can drive gap to gap or straight over the center fielder’s head on his easy triple. He’s an athlete in the box and trusts his hands to adjust to different pitch types and foul off tough pitches. It translates defensively as well, where Bryan splits time between SS and catcher. In this look at SS, he showed a strong, accurate arm with range to either side and the leadership to command the infield. He’ll look to continue his strong fall and carry his momentum into his junior campaign at Denmark this spring.
Ryan Lee, 1B/LHP, 2028, Norcross
17U USA Scout Team Nike White - Dodsen
Uncommitted. Lee turned in an impressive showing at the plate, consistently finding hard contact throughout the weekend. Strong 6-foot-2, 215-pound build with clear impact offensively. Lee put together a loud weekend at the plate, hitting .750 on the tournament, but headlined his performance with a 98 EV, 393-foot home run he hit Saturday night. The lefty showcased a balanced, fluid swing with an efficient lower half. Stays connected throughout and keeps the barrel on plane consistently. Lee shows clear offensive upside, and will look to continue to make noise at the plate in his upcoming junior season at Norcross High School.
