Future Games Trials: Outfield Analysis

Phil Kerber
Georgia Scouting Director

The
Future Games Trials took place on June 30th at LakePoint Sports in Emerson, GA. The event featured 65 underclassmen. Prospects participated in a pro-style workout and simulated game play.

Our position player analysis from the event wraps up with a look at the outfielders. At the top of the list is 2020 Future Games participant OF/LHP John Long (Glynn Academy, 2022). Long is a quick twitch left-handed hitter who impressed with quick hand speed and a whippy barrel. As a hitter he drives balls from gap-to-gap with force, posting a max exit velocity during batting practice of 91.02. A high end athlete, he ran a 6.63 laser-timed 60 and uses that speed well to cover ground in the outfield and disrupt the defense on the base paths.

Following Long is a group of exceptional athletes in OF/SS Luke Boykin (Wayne County, 2022), Georgia State commit OF/LHP Jake Beaver (Flowery Branch, 2022), OF/SS De’yon Cannon (Grayson, 2022) and OF/RHP Ford Hallock (Greater Atlanta Christian, 2022).

Keep reading to view reports on the aforementioned prospects along with the rest of the outfielders in attendance, listed alphabetically.
