Future Games Recap - Outfielders

Last weekend the Prep Baseball Report Future Games were held at the LakePoint Sports Complex and States and scouts from all over the country invaded the facility, In what can only be described as the countries best uncommitted event. With over 300 college scouts filtering through, this event has and continues to pay huge dividends for both scouts and players alike. Today we focus on Team Georgia and the talented Outfield group that represented the great state of Georgia.

Bryant Herring OF / Dutchtown, GA / 2021Rankings StateRank: 49 / POS: 11
The 5-foot-9, 160 pound Dutchtown product showed he has the ability to be a true table setter from the left side. Herring was on the bases all summer for the East Cobb Astros and gave Team Georgia more of the same. Herring knows his zone, and does not give away an at bat. The quick first step of Herring makes him dangerous from foul pole to foul pole. Defensively Herring enough first step quickness to fit in CF, and is learning his routes on the corners. Herring does not posses on overwhelming arm, but combined with his accuracy he is more than capable of cutting down an over aggressive baserunner. Herring’s spark plug mentality on the field is the same energy he will bring to a club behind the scenes. Looking forward to seeing where this pesky top of the order bat lands, because somebody is going to get their money's worth in baseball player. |

Breon Horne OF / Next Level Academy, GA / 2021It is hard to imagine a better looking kid than the 6-foot-2, 185 pound Horne. He possesses elite speed and that speed showed up on both sides of the ball at the Future Games. Horne showed above average range on a couple balls in the gaps in CF, but most impressive was the sub 4.0 Horne ran on a ball hit right back to the pitcher. He was called out on the play, but raised a bunch of eye brows on the play and after further review was most likely safe on the play. Horne is also a developing switch hitter, and actually shows more looseness from the left side. Once Horne jumps in with both feet on the switch hitting, he has the potential to be a very tough out from the left side. Combine his quickness with his speed and Horne has a chance to change the shape of the defense every time he steps into the box. |

Riley Stanford OF / RHP / Buford, GA / 2022Stanford is about as live a bodied athlete as you will find. His 6-foot-4, 185-pound frame is long and has room for more weight. This was our first extended look at Stanford as a position player and it was not a disappointing one. He generates elite bat-speed at the plate and he has the ability to keep the barrel in the zone for a long time. Defensively Stanford moves extremely well in the outfield and shows knowledgeable routes to the baseball. As you would imagine with his prowess on the mound, Stanford has major league caliber right field arm. Scouts watching Stanford at the Futures Game saw all of his raw abilities, but the thing that jumped out was just how much fun he has on the baseball field. Stanford missed the showcase portion of the event, where he would have likely been a show stopper, but in his return Team Georgia’s energy level went way up with the outfielder in the fold. |

Brocker Way OF / 2B / Loganville, GA / 2021Rankings StateRank: 38 / POS: 7
The 5-foot-10, 165-pound corner outfielder had his weekend cut short, but Way showed well in the showcase portion of the event. Posting an exit velocity of 91mph, to go along with his 89 mph velocity from the outfield. Way has good actions to his game all over the field and especially in the batters box. He is strong in all the right places and has a compact short stroke with bat-speed. Way has shown strong potential with the bat all year long and look for him to create even more waves this Spring at Loganville High School. |
