WARNER ROBINS, GA - There was a championship atmosphere around Houston County High School on Tuesday evening as two star studded rosters locked horns in a winner-take-all Game 3, in the Elite 8 of the 2022 GHSA Class 6A Playoffs. Houston County struck in the first inning, but it was all Buford after that. The Wolves rattled off 11 straight runs to take the game 11-1, and punched their ticket to the Final 4, where a rematch with Pope awaits them.

The star of Game 2, C Garrett Hortman (Houston County, 2022) got the Bears started in the first inning with a two out single through the left-side that would score OF Drew Burress (Houston County; Georgia Tech) from second.

The lead would be short lived though. Buford would tie the game on an errant throw, and then take the lead on OF Parker Walsh’s (Buford; Lafayette) double off the wall in center field. The hits would continue into the fourth when the Buford offense exploded for eight runs. RHP/1B Riley Stanford (Buford; Georgia Tech) would add the mercy run in the top of fifth on a loud double. RHP Nate Taylor (Buford; 2024) picked up the win, going 4.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K.
