Most Viewed Profiles of 2022: No. 6 Cam Collier

Phil Kerber
Georgia Scouting Director

As we begin to close the book on 2022 and shift our focus to a brand-new year, we continue our tradition of highlighting the Top-25 Most Viewed Profiles for the calendar year. Using Google Analytics, our staff was able to compile a list of the Top-25 prospects whose PBR profile was viewed the most in 2022. Many of the players mentioned on this list produced at a high level at various PBR events over the course of the last 12 months.

Starting on December 7th, we began counting down from No. 25 all the way to No. 1, which will be announced on December 31st. Coming in at No. 6 in our countdown of the most viewed profiles of 2022 is the 18th overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft, former Chipola Indian and Mt. Paran Eagle 3B Cam Collier.

Scouting Report

7/10/22
2022 MLB Draft: Collier's bat and approach make him special. He tracks the ball well and makes adjustments to offspeed. The left-handed hitter is long through the strike zone with plus bat speed and barrels up the ball consistently. At 6-foot-2, 210 pounds he already shows present strength and there's plus power to all fields. As a 17 year old in junior college, Collier posted a .333/.419/.537 slash line with 33 strikeouts against 25 walks in 215 plate appearances. Defensively, he has good first-step quickness and above-average range at third base with a plus to better throwing arm. The more you see him play, the more you appreciate his athleticism and defensive capabilities. Collier profiles as an everyday third baseman at the Major League level.

JUCO Gems: Hitters, Vol. 1
Collier’s bat and approach make him special – and he’s showing this already at age 17. He tracks the ball well and makes adjustments to offspeed. Barrels ball up consistently and it really jumps off his bat. Strong player with plus power potential. Defensively, has good first-step quickness and above-average range at third base with a plus throwing arm. The more you see him play, the more you appreciate his athleticism and defensive capabilities. See as a good everyday third baseman at the Major League level who will contribute offensively with his bat. Big league bloodlines (Lou Collier). Should be a top two-round guy this year.

12/31/21
The youngest player on this list, at age 17, Collier initially was part of the 2023 prep class and had committed to Louisville before deciding to reclassify as a '22, retract his Louisville commitment and graduate high school early to enroll at Chipola. At 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, Collier is a strong, physical athlete with baseball bloodlines as the son of former Major Leaguer Lou Collier. The left-handed hitter has an exciting offensive profile, showing an advanced approach and a knack for driving the ball to all fields. He tracks the ball well, rarely getting off-balance, and knows how to make consistently hard contact. Defensively, Collier has good actions at third base, with first-step quickness, body control and a plus throwing arm. He profiles best at the hot corner but would be a strong offensive second baseman at the next level, potentially developing into a middle-of-the-order bat.

2/25/20
Louisville commit. The 6-foot, 190 pound third-baseman continued to swing the bat well. Hit the ball hard in three straight at bats, continuing to show ability to hit the ball hard to all fields. Had a one-hop double to left-center, a hard hit single up-the-middle, and a long fly out to RF in consecutive at bats. Barrel showing thump and stays easy through the zone.

2/22/20
Louisville commit. 6-foot, 190-pound left-handed hitting two-way prospect, thick, strong frame, ample strength in his lower half and shows no signs of slowing down the addition of more muscle. Typically known for his power bat, hopped on the mound on Saturday night. Arm works with some length, quick arm speed allows for him to get out front. Used exclusively fastballs, sat 84-85, touched 87. Had some command issues, but in a high pressure situation, with his team winning by two runs with two outs in the seventh inning and the bases loaded, he rose to the occasion and collected the one out save.

9/27/19
Louisville commit, continues to be a consistent performer this fall for MGBA. About as physical as it gets for a member of the Class of 2023 currently, stands 6-foot, 190-pounds, thick frame with strength throughout and much more to come. Hits everything hard from the left-side of the plate with loose hands, barrel works mostly level as he peppered the right-side of the field all weekend at the PBR Cup.

9/18/19
The Louisville commit showed why he is one of the top 2023 two-way players in the country over the weekend. At 6-foot, 190 pounds, the thick, physical Collier displayed power and consistency everywhere on the field. Uses a waggle rhythm load with hands, has impressive hand speed and barrel whip. Easy power as Collier wore out the right-center gap all tournament. Showed a good approach and strike-zone awareness; rarely chased pitches and battled very well with two strikes. Situational hitter. On the mound, has advanced arm strength with easy effort. FB sat 82-84,T85. Did not show off-speed very much as he challenged predominantly with FB. #2 ranked player in Georgia 2023 Class.

7/04/19
Verbally committed to Louisville.

6/02/19
The big-bodied 6-foot righty was sitting at an easy 80-82 mph, and touched 83 mph in his day of work from the rubber. He also operates as the team’s starting shortstop when he’s not on the mound and is a natural with the glove, and obviously has the arm strength to play on the left side of the infield.
