We are into the home stretch of the season and players across the state are putting up clutch performances. Our Pitcher of the Week sums this up. RHP Caden Brown (Elbert County, 2022) helped lead Elbert County to the 2A-Region 8 title by defeating Banks County twice last week. Brown was called upon to start twice in the series and rose to the occasion. In Game 1, the uncommitted junior tossed a complete game shutout, winning 4-0. The Blue Devils would drop Game 2 10-0. Making Game 3 a winner-take-all affair. Once again, Brown was called upon and delivered, leading Elbert County to a 4-3 victory. For the week, Browns line read: 2-0, 14.0 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 17 K.

Our Hitter of the Week delivered a powerful performance at the plate. 3B Cole Mathis (Harris County; College of Charleston) belted three solo home runs for the Tigers, collecting three RBIs and scoring eight times. On the week, he slashed .556//750/1.1556, went 5-for-9, 2 1B, 3 HR, 3 RBI, 8 R, 5 BB, 2 HBP. Mathis has now hit seven home runs on the season and four in his last five games. The big power hitter can also run his fastball up into the low-mid 90s on the mound.
