Prep Baseball Report

Season Review: Cass

Hudson Graham
PBR Georgia Staff

Our goal at Prep Baseball Report is to promote high school players, and give them the exposure they need to be able to play at the next level. With the 2020 high school season cancelled, we want to continue to be able to promote players, even when baseball is not being played. We have sent surveys out to coaches around the state and got their input on the first weeks of the season. Over the next few weeks, we will highlight the season and standout players, team by team.

CASS Colonels

Record: 7-4 (2-2)

2020 Standouts:

Blaine Ingram, SS/RHP, Cass, 2020

Reinhardt Commit
Season Statistics: .380, 2 triples, 6 doubles / 1-0 complete game no hitter, 1 Save

10/1/19 - 6-foot-3, 175-pound right-handed hitting middle infielder and right-handed pitcher. Offensively, balanced setup, hands load back smoothly with some drop, short leg lift, smooth rhythm, good balance throughout. Takes a line drive approach, consistently squared balls back up the middle. Really stood out defensively for his high baseball IQ, commands the infield from shortstop, showed great body control on throws made on the run.

2021 Standouts

Matt Shook, OF, Cass, 2021
Uncommitted
Season Statistics: .365, 3 triples 3 doubles

2/28/20 - 5-foot-9 155-pounds. Spark plug type player. Really good energy, and plays the game hard. LHH with a quiet load leg kick swing. Short compact frame has some power in the swing. Nearly took a ball deep that was back-side. Goes the other way really well. Stays through the baseball, and has a simple approach. Good runner on the bases. Creates offense from the top of the order for Cass. Solid defender at 2B. Makes all the easy plays. All-around solid player that could be the missing piece for many teams.

Underclass Standouts

Carson Hill, RHP, Cass, 2023

Uncommitted
Season Statistics: 1-0 2 Saves

11/9/19 - Carson Hill is a well built 2023 from Cass High School who checks in at 5-foot-9, 190-pounds. At the plate HIll has a deep load from the right-side and projects to be a long and strong right handed bat in the future (78 exit velocity).  His has a flat stroke and barrel stays in the zone well. Defensively his hands work and uses proper footwork in being quick to second-base. Hill still has plenty of time and will only be a freshman this Spring but shows solid technique to was he is doing.
