Prep Baseball Report

Season Review: Sandy Creek

Phil Kerber
Georgia Scouting Director

Our goal at Prep Baseball Report is to promote high school players, and give them the exposure they need to be able to play at the next level. With the 2020 high school season cancelled, we want to continue to be able to promote players, even when baseball is not being played. We have sent surveys out to coaches around the state and got their input on the first weeks of the season. Over the next few weeks, we will highlight the season and standout players, team by team.

Sandy Creek Patriots

Record: 7-5

2020 Standouts

John Marant, OF, Sandy Creek, 2020
Georgia Tech signee

Coach’s Notes: Sidelined by injury early, came back with a monster HR in his first at bat vs Northgate. Tremendous pop that will garnish MLB draft possibilities.

4/13/19 - Marant has an impressive frame at 6-foot-5, 200-pounds.  He posses a strong tool set as an outfielder with projection still left to everything he does.  Marant will need to refine his approach, but is blessed with a serious set of unteachable skills.

Brian Siefert, 1B, Sandy Creek, 2020
Andrew JC signee

Coach’s Notes: Led AAAA with a .566 avg this season. The LHH 1B possesses amazing hands at the plate and one of the best defensive 1B in the state.

2021 Standouts

Glenn Green, RHP/INF, Sandy Creek, 2021
Uncommitted

Coach’s Notes: One of the top ranked 2021 players in GA and nationally Green ended the year with a dominating win vs Northgate sitting 90-92 topping 94mph. Green also hit .423 with a HR , 5 doubles, and 3 triples . Holding numerous D1 offers he won’t be uncommitted for long.

1/11/20 - Uncommitted 2021 3B/RHP Glenn Green (Sandy Creek) popped onto our radar at the Fall Upperclass Games in November for his natural athletic ability, and he only solidified our views at Preseason All-State. A lanky 6-foot-2, 185-pound with a strong lower half, his entire game plays with strength. His arm plays loosely at 91 mph across the infield. On the mound, we have seen him up to 91 before, on Sunday Green sat 88-89 with good tilt on his fastball. What separates him is his hard, tight slider that is a true out pitch at 78-80.

Jacob Bodkin, LHP, Sandy Creek, 2021
Uncommitted

Coach’s Notes: Jacob has a mid 80’s FB with a sharp slider and devastating change up. Jacob highlighted this season with a 6 inning shutout of Bleckley Co in Brunswick at Baseball at the Beach. With the velocity still growing will be a strong prospect this summer, fall, and next Spring.

Underclassmen

Jonathan Little, MIF, Sandy Creek, 2022
Uncommitted

Coach’s Notes: Named 1st Team All Region SS as a FR Little picked up where he left off. Hitting .429 with a mammoth HR and 5 doubles on the year. A slick fielding SS with a infield velo of 85-88 mph. The SO already has D1 offers and interest is picking up from BIG TIME programs.  Tremendous program player recently named Positive Athlete POY.

Jordan Thomas, OF, Sandy Creek, 2022
Uncommitted

Coach’s Notes: A physical specimen that has an exit velo averaging 95-100mph. Thomas hit .424 on the year with 4 doubles and 10 rbi. The power hitting OF is the son of former pro Eric Thomas.

Kaden Brown, INF, Sandy Creek, 2023
Uncommitted

Coach’s Notes: The 6-foot-3, 225-pound FR has monster power potential. Brown hit .329 with 3 doubles and 95 exit velo. High ceiling for this top 100 2023.

Kaleb Cost, OF, Sandy Creek, 2023
Uncommitted

Coach’s Notes: Cost is the nephew of Andre Dawson. Kid has all the tools to do what he wants in this game. Plays football at a high level as well. Upper 80’s from OF. 90 exit velo . Again he’s a freshman. Can absolutely fly. 6.60. Hit .355 as  on Varsity with 4 doubles, and led the team in SB. Will be a high level D1 football player as well. Wants to play both.
