Social Circle visits Loganville Christian Academy

State Director, Georgia

The small school battle took place in Loganville Thursday night, as Social Circle survived a Loganville Christian late inning push to secure the win (6-3).  With the cold weather finally taking a break, it actually felt like it was time to play baseball.  Both teams got strong performances from their starting pitchers, but the games deciding blows were struck late with relief pitchers on the mound.  The game was tied 1-1 going into the 5th inning before Social Circle pushed across two runs, and then another three in the 6th inning. That lead would prove to be enough, as Social Circle held off LCA down the stretch.

LCA hung tough for 4 innings with Dalton Strickland on the mound.  Strickland is an uncommitted OF/RHP that has a good frame and baseball actions.  At the plate Strickland shows a pull approach and  a big loose swing with bat-speed. On the bump the sophomore is (80-83) with a high overhand slot and shape to a loose 12-6 breaking ball.  He still needs to add strength and continue to develop on the mound.

The Redskins were lead by starting pitcher Davis Smith, who went 5 strong innings.  Allowing no earned runs, on 2 hits, while striking out 9.
