Prep Baseball Report

Uncommitted Spotlight: C Mason Cooper

Phil Kerber
Georgia Scouting Director

Our goal at Prep Baseball Report is to promote high school players, and give them the exposure they need to be able to play at the next level. With the 2020 high school season in limbo, we want to continue to be able to promote players, even when baseball is not being played. Starting today, we will be spotlighting several uncommitted prospects to help them get the exposure they need to play at the next level.

A member of National Crosschecker Shooter Hunt's Team Select at the 2019 PBR Future Games, C Mason Cooper (Jefferson, 2021) was just one of many standout backstops at the event from the great state of Georgia. At the event, Cooper posted some solid numbers and showed his ability to be a two-way catcher at the next level. Come this spring, it really looks like Cooper has taken his game to the next level. He has leaned out his once stocky frame with usable muscle and strength. This transformation has translated to quicker hands at the plate, more power and added athleticism. Just watch the most recent video below, courtesy of Full Count Baseball. Cooper feasts on balls on the inner half, showing the ability to elevate and drive them with considerable force, while still maintaining a level swing path. Cooper was really coming into his own this spring, and doing big things for the Jefferson Dragons. Now, we must wait until summer, when he takes the field for Team Elite.
