Uncommitted Spotlight: LHP Will Robbins

Phil Kerber
Georgia Scouting Director

Our goal at Prep Baseball Report is to promote high school players, and give them the exposure they need to be able to play at the next level. With the 2020 high school season in limbo, we want to continue to be able to promote players, even when baseball is not being played. Starting today, we will be spotlighting several uncommitted prospects to help them get the exposure they need to play at the next level.

One of the top uncommitted southpaws in Georgia's Class of 2021, we finally got the opportunity to see LHP Will Robbins (Forsyth Central) this spring. Robbins impressed in his outing against Denmark in early Match. The left-hander sat 85-87 for the entirety of his outing and offered up two off-speed pitches that he controlled the zone with. Robbins curveball, a 12/6 offering, has the makings of a future swing and miss pitch, and his changeup is a nice change of pace that will catch batters off guard. At 5-foot-11, 175-pounds, Robbins has plenty of time left to fill out his lean, athletic frame. When additional strength comes to his frame, it will come as no surprise that Robbins will see a velocity jump in all three of his pitches, making him an even tougher pitcher to hit off.

Scouting Report

3/09/20 - 5-foot-11, 175-pound left-handed pitcher, medium sized frame, proportional build, lean athlete. Arm works short and clean out of a high 3/4 slot, works slightly cross body, hides ball well, really get on hitters quickly. Starts on the third base side of the rubber with a drop and drive delivery, gets to glove-side in sync, some head pull on release. Competitive on the mound. Showed a feel for three pitches. Fastball sat 85-87, some sinking action. Curveball, 12/6 action, depth, 74-77. Changeup, sink and fade, 80.
