South Georgia Summer ID: Quick Hits

Statesboro, GA - The Prep Baseball Georgia Staff traveled to Georgia Southern University for the final summer event. These players went through extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman, ran the 60 yard dash using Swift Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to throw bullpen with Trackman. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing on Monday.

Uncommitted. Extremely effective, powerful, confident 5-foot-10, 195-pound swing from the left side. Showcased an all-fields approach with loud barrels pull-side and back-side juice. Consistent hard contact with multiple deep fly balls, and displayed quick hand speed. Mid to low 90’s exit velocity on display, topping at 95.2 while sending that ball 347 feet to left center.

Uncommitted. Tall, athletic 6-foot, 165-pound frame with power and strength in the arsenal. Displayed an innate feel for the pull side barrel, much inviting to the inside pitch. Flashed the hit tool early with a loud round of BP. Toe-tap to a slide-step load that creates tension and leverage to drive the ball hard, with low 90’s exit velocity.

Uncommitted. Strong, confident 5-foot-11, 191-pound frame from the right side. A standout behind the plate with quick feet and arm strength. Displayed a 73% barrel accuracy throughout his round of BP that showed low 90’s exit velocity and deep fly balls to center and pull side parts of the field sending one 340 feet.

Legit SL with serious sweeping movement. 64-63 with feel for spin T2523 rpm. Maintained sidearm slots on SL that generated tons of sweeping movement with command and control. Mid to low 90 exit velo’s during BP, pull-side to middle approach but has shown opposite field juice and pop in the barrel. Wide stance with minimal toe-tap load and upper body torque. Moderate arm strength showing 83 velo from the OF. Showcased a 6.5 - 60 yard dash and a 1.6 - 10 yard time.

Uncommitted. Morgan was a standout on Monday at the South Georgia Summer ID event at Georgia Southern. Morgan had a strong BP round working the gaps well with a top exit velocity of 91.7 mph. The physical framed RHH looked strong behind the plate with his best pop time of 2.12.

Uncommitted. Lane had a strong showing at the South Georgia Summer ID. Lane showed well at the plate driving the ball to all parts of the field. He showed good feel for the barrel, staying behind the ball and working through the zone well. Behind the plate, Lane displayed the best pop time of the day with a 1.97. Lane stayed simple behind the plate staying smooth and quick in his transfer.

Uncommitted. The imposing 6-foot-1, 200-pound RHP, showed smooth repeatable downhill mechanics. Flashing the intriguing upside on the mound working with a loud 3-pitch mix, FB sat 87-89, snapping off the SL at 76-79 with late-bite, CH: 80-83. Yawn will be a name to watch as the uncommitted RHP is poised for a big spring.

Uncommitted. Nance had a strong showing at the plate at the South Georgia Summer ID. Showcasing a smooth left-handed swing with great extension and serious impact in the barrel. The lefty obliterated baseballs with ease showcasing the pull-side pop with tremendous feel for the barrel. Also had the max bat-speed on the day at 81.7 MPH.

Uncommitted. Odom had a strong day in all facets. Opening up the South Georgia Summer ID, the athletic OF, showed off the wheels burning down the track for a 6.56-60. At the plate Odom shined during his loud round of BP. Highlighting a well-synced up swing with all-fields leverage. Showcased a natural feel for the barrel posting a max exit-velocity of 95.6 MPH.

Uncommitted. Wagner was a standout in multiple facets on Monday. Posting some of the best stats across the board. Defensively Wagner posted a 76 catcher velocity and an infield velocity at 81 MPH. At the plate the physical 6-foot-4, 200-pound RHH had a day. Posting the best exit velocity of the day at 97.4 MPH, along with the 79.1 MPH bat-speed. Displaying an innate feel for the barrel with impact and great pull-side leverage through the zone.

Taylor Casson, OF/3B/RHP, Landmark Christian School, 2026
Uncommitted. Casson displayed a consistent BP round with exit velocities consistently in the 90’s He had a max distance of 317ft. He posted one of the top average bat speeds of 73.8 per Blast Motion. He posted the top velocity of the day from the outfield at 95mph. After a long day he hopped on the mound and filled up the zone with a mid 80’s fastball. He has been up the 90 this summer, and has much more left in the tank on the mound. Casson will be a player to know as he heads into his junior year.
