Our first out-of-state participant to attend a 2020 event reigned from Hawaii. Christian Chinen, 2022 grad from Kalani, attended the 2020 St. Louis Winter Open.
Chinen flashed some tools, running a 6.89 60-yard dash and topping at 87 mph from the OF. At the plate, Chinen takes aggressive hacks and has a line drive approach.

Chinen is a 5-foot-6, 140-pound, right-handed hitting outfielder in Hawaii’s 2022 class. At the event, he ran a 6.89 second 60 and posted an exit velocity of 77 mph. At the plate, Chinen starts in a slightly open but balanced stance, simple weight shift load, some rhythm to hands, in line stride, balanced throughout, aggressive with back hip, high finish with hands, looked to lift the baseball and produced middle to pull side contact during round. Defensively, Chinen shows his athleticism in the outfield, attacks the baseball, fluid footwork, long arm, clean arm action, 87 mph positional velo with mostly accurate throws.
