The 2026 high school baseball season is underway and, as usual, excitement is present throughout Iowa. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across the Hawkeye State.
Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Cedar Rapids or Carroll at the IHSAA state tournaments, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to shine a spotlight on all teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Iowa.

+ Coon Rapids-Bayard’s Cal Heydon was 2 for 3 with a single, double, 2 walks and 5 RBI’s.
+ Urbandale’s Gabe Blanshan went 4 for 6 in their doubleheader with 3 doubles, a home run and 4 RBI’s.
+ Valley’s Colton Roemmich was 4 for 8 with a single, 3 home runs, and 6 RBI’s.
+ Pocahontas’ Blake Bunda was 3 for 4 with 3 singles, 2 walks and 3 RBI’s in their double header.
+ Urbandale’s Brody Bergen pitched 4 innings giving up 1 run on 0 hits, allowed 4 walks and struck out 7.
+ Harlan’s Foxx Argotsinger was 4 for 5 in their double header sweep. Collecting a double, 3 home runs, 3 walks a hit by pitch, 7 runs and 8 RBI’s.
+ Le Mars' Brett McInnis threw a 7 inning No Hitter giving up 1 walk and struck out 16.
