PBR: What schools have expressed interest in you?
SMITH: A lot of schools have shown interest from all levels.
PBR: Have you taken any visits, or have any visits scheduled in the near future?
SMITH: Yes, I have taken a handful of visits over the last few months, and have enjoyed every single one of them.
PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)
SMITH: The biggest thing for me is academics and playing for a winning culture. Those things are extremely important to me and so is staying close to home.
PBR: What were some of your highlights during your junior year?
SMITH: A highlight from my junior season was definitely setting my school record for batting average, but more importantly, it was being able to even have a season. Being able to enjoy it with teammates and friends is something that I think I will remember the most about it.
PBR: What are your goals for this year?
SMITH: My goals for this year are to get stronger, faster and improve upon my mental approach in the game and in training. I did a pretty good job of that this past off-season, and have a solid base, but now it’s time to build off of that so I can go into college and hopefully have a shot to play right away. By doing that I believe I will also have a pretty good shot at setting the single season hit record at Senior which has been a goal of mine for a while.
PBR: Do you play any other sports?
SMITH: Other than baseball, I run track. I have had a lot of success with track and I feel like it is extremely important in terms of development for baseball.
PBR: What is your ACT and GPA?
SMITH: Currently my GPA is a 3.9946. I haven’t taken the ACT yet due to COVID, but I am taking it later in October.
