2014 Underclass Spotlight: Tre Gantt, OF, Hamilton Southeastern HS



Tre Gantt is a 5-foot 9 athletic junior outfielder from Hamilton Southeastern. Gantt is a recent move in from Missouri. Gantt ran an impressive 6.81 sixty and then showed advanced actions in the outfield and showed some arm strength at 80. Gantt is a left-handed hitter with a good balance stance, smooth load, and quick hands demonstrating barrel whip.

PBR: What are your expectations for the recruiting process?
Tre: At this point, I'm really at the beginning stage of the recruiting process.

PBR: What level of baseball do you see yourself playing at the next level?
Tre: I am really looking forward to playing college ball at the Division 1 to Division 2 level.

PBR: What schools are you most interested in right now, and why?
Tre: Right now I am interested the University of Iowa because I was born in Iowa and grew up a Hawkeye fan.  I have also attended the Hawkeye baseball camp and liked the facilities and coaching staff.  Also, since I now live in Indiana, I am interested in talking with any school in the state of Indiana.

PBR: What aspect of your game do you believe needs the most improvement?
Tre: I am working hard to improve my arm strength. 

PBR: What are your personal goals for the upcoming 2012 season?
Tre: As a sophomore starting on the varsity squad, I just want to be able to look back when the season is over and say I made a positive contribution to the team's success.

PBR: What are your high school team goals for the upcoming 2012 season?
Tre: Our goal is to be the conference champs and state champs.

PBR: What team do you play for in the summer?
Tre: 16U Indiana Prospects

PBR: What is your fondest memory or highlight from your 2011 baseball season (High School or Summer)?
Tre: I was unable to play baseball in 2011 due to an injury.  The highlight of my 2010 baseball season was leading the 14U Missouri Prospects in home runs.

PBR: You moved from Missouri to Indiana, How has baseball compared to Missouri?
Tre: I'm impressed by the baseball fields here in Indiana when compared to Missouri.  Regarding baseball itself, I think Indiana and Missouri are very similar in the level of competition, but there may be more talent in Indiana.

PBR: Explain the move and how it has affected you?
Tre: It was difficult at first.  Once baseball started, everyone on the team really welcomed me and made me feel comfortable.  I love being part of a team and the HSE varsity players really helped me adjust.

PBR: Have you decided on a major or narrowed it down?
Tre: No, I have not decided at this time.
