Noblesville, IN---The Noblesville Millers were looking for a season sweep over Hoosier Crossroads rival Brownsburg. The Millers knocked off the Bulldogs 6-5 on Monday. The two teams were supposed to play Tuesday evening, however was canceled due to rain, moving the contest to last night.
Two southpaws took the mound to start the game for both teams. Noblesville junior Zach St. Pierre took the mound for the Millers, while fellow junior Ty McCoy earned the start for the Bulldogs. Both pitchers threw well, filling up the zone with tons of strikes. St. Pierre finished the evening going 5 2/3 innings pitched, giving up eight hits and three earned runs. McCoy finished with five complete innings, also allowing eight hits and giving up two.
Brownsburg held a 1-0 lead through five innings. Junior Tyler Houston knocked in the first run of the game on his RBI single in the third.
The Bulldogs scratched two more runs across the plate in the sixth to take a 3-0 lead. Senior Hunter Leum had an RBI base hit, scoring senior Haden Shipman who doubled earlier in the inning. Leum would advance to second on the throw home, and eventually moved to third on a passed ball. Senior catcher, Kyle Yeager, knocked in the second run of the inning on his RBI ground out, scoring Leum.
Noblesville cut the deficit to one in the bottom half of the sixth. After a walk and consecutive base hits from Brian McLean (2015) and Garrett Christman (2014), the bases were loaded for senior Luke Porter. Porter then ripped a double for 2 RBI, but that would be all the Millers would score the rest of the evening.
