CARMEL---Tuesday night featured a 4A Top 25 matchup between neighbors Carmel and Westfield. The Greyhounds started out hot, taking a 4-0 lead within the first three frames. On the mound for Carmel was senior southpaw Connor Cunningham, a Wisconsin-Parkside recruit. The lefty was dominate, taking a no-hitter into fifth inning. Cunningham finished his night throwing five innings, allowing just one hit while striking out three. Sophomore lefty Tommy Sommer threw a scoreless 6th while senior Tyler Keith, a Sinclair recruit, closed the door in the 7th.
Offensively the 23rd ranked Greyhounds were led by Tyler Blackington who was 1-2 with a 2B and RBI, Connor Cunningham (1-3 2B), and Elliot Shebek, DePauw recruit (1-3, BB, R)
Getting the start for Westfield was sophomore RHP Noah Shanteau who threw 3.2 innings with 5 K, 3 BB, and allowed 4 Runs on 4 hits. Junior Harrison Freed led the Shamrock offense with two hits. Junior right-hander Ryan Pepiot, a Butler commit, threw the 7th inning and struck out the side despite giving up a run.
