INDIANAPOLIS--Junior RHP Jarrett Montgomery stole the show at Center Grove Wednesday evening as the Lawrence Central Bears took the win 7-3. Montgomery, a Florida State commit, provided a presence at the plate, on the base paths, and dominated the Trojans on the mound.

With two outs in the top of the first, Montgomery bounced a ball off the top of the center field fence that fell over for a homerun and 1-run lead for LC. The Bears put two more on the board in the top of the third. Center Grove rallied back in the bottom half of the inning on a couple errors and a passed balls allowed three runs to cross the plate. 3-3 heading into the fourth.

These were the only runs that Center Grove provided starting pitcher and Lincoln Trail commit Eli Weartz. Weartz was able to strike out seven LC hitters with an 80-81 mph fastball and late breaking ball, but the baserunners came in chunks. Timely hitting and speed on the bases brought them home enough to get the victory.

Lawrence Central put the game away with a long sixth inning that scored three and additional run in the seventh that brought home the seventh and final run of the contest.

Montgomery was an obvious standout for the evening going the distance allowing just one hit with 16 K's. Offensively the junior was 2-3 with a HR, walk, a couple stolen bases, and an RBI. Braxton Kreig went 2-3 with a pair of singles and three RBI. Marcus Jessup was 2-3 with a single and a double. DeAndre' Davis was 2-3 with two walks, two singles, and an RBI.
