Petruzzi's Homerun Powers Brebeuf to Win

by Blake Hibler

Noblesville, IN
—On a brisk night in Noblesville, Brebeuf wasted no time getting on the scoreboard when Junior OF/RHP Eric Petruzzi launched a fastball into left center for a solo homerun to put Brebeuf up 1-0 on the Millers.

Sophomore Marshall Farren picked up his first varsity win throwing 5 1/3 innings, giving up one run, on four hits. Farren struck out four and walked three. Marshall changed speeds well and kept the Millers off balance all night inducing three double plays to help keep the Millers at bay.

Brebuef would go on to add two more runs in the fourth on a throwing error and a sacrifice fly off the bat of John Lowe; who finished with two hits and two RBI. That would be all Brebeuf would need going on to win the game 5-2.

Scouting Notes from the Game

Brebeuf

Eric Petruzzi, OF/RHP, 2014 - Petruzzi is a physical 5-foot-11 strong arm player. Petruzzi showed power when he hit a no doubt homerun in the first. In the outfield, Petruzzi moved well with good arm strength. On the mound, Eric closed the game, with an 81-82 MPH fastball.

Hunter Hale, C, 2014 - Hale continues to show a good strong arm behind the plate. Best pop time of the day was 2.09. It is still a little long on the backside.

Ben Powell, OF, 2014 - Powell looks college locker room ready with his body. While this was not an impressive game for Powell. The Physical makeup makes him someone to keep an eye on. Rumors are, Powell is being recruited by several Division 1 football programs as well.

Notes on Nick Chambers will be featured in this week’s PBR Plus Indiana Notebook

Noblesville

Although Noblesville did not win two seniors made an impression:

TJ Linstrand, C, 2013 - The unsigned senior showed a strong accurate arm from behind the plate. Showing an in game pop time at 2.17. TJ needs to clean up footwork, but the arm strength is there to remain behind the plate.

Nick Miller, OF, 2013 - Miller is an undersized outfielder that does everything well. Moves well, good arm strength, understands how to play the game and has a clean compact swing.
