PBR talks with Heartland JC commit Trevor Storie

PBR recently talked with Heartland Junior College commit Trevor Storie from Huntington North High School. Here is our conversation with the RHP/SS...

PBR: Why did you choose Heartland Junior College?
Trevor: Heartland is a winning program and has been very successful at helping players develop to the next level. They also have great facilities and I really felt that I would be in the best position to improve as a player in their system.

PBR: Was it important to stay close home/travel?
Trevor: The only thing that was truly important to me was committing to an organization that was going to help me become and better player and give me the opportunity to continue playing baseball.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?
Trevor: The expect me to come in and compete. They will give me the opportunity to be an impact guy, but I understand I will have to earn that position.

PBR: What were your expectations about recruiting heading into the summer?
Trevor: I knew that I was capable of playing at the next level and I am happy that through the process I am going to be playing at Heartland.

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that you will help Heartland Junior College?
Trevor: I am a hard worker and very committed to baseball. I feel the harder I work, the better I become as a pitcher. Hopefully, the hard work helps our team compete and win games when I am pitching.

PBR: How has travel baseball helped your development as a player?
Trevor: I have played great competition throughout the past 9 summers that I have played travel baseball. I believe it has made me a better player and really improved my skills.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
Trevor: My dad has been the biggest impact. He has driven/flown me all over the country to make me as successful as I can be and always keeps me committed.

PBR: What were your stats for this spring season at Huntington North?
Trevor: I was only able to pitch a few innings this spring due to a back injury.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher/hitter that you have faced in Indiana?
Trevor: There are a lot of quality players in the Midwest. It would be hard to just name one or two.
