Analyzing the Middle Infielders at the Western KY Prospect ID Showcase

The Western Kentucky Prospect ID Showcase in Owensboro on June 26 produced some solid performances.  Today we take a look at the middle infielders from the eventTomorrow we will take a look at the corner infielders.

Troy Riggs, 2B, Central Hardin HS, 2014
5-foot-10, 165-pound prospect shows athletic actions, fluid footwork, soft hands, good body control, throws registered 71 mph across the infield.  At the plate, hits from an open setup, short stride, shows good balance, short path to the ball, line drive hitter.  Riggs runs well, 6.75 60 yard dash, registered 79 mph tee exit velocity, high energy type player.

Wade Carter, SS, Calloway County, 2015
5-foot-10, 160-pound, left-handed hitting prospect, shows good lateral movement, soft hands, 76 mph arm strength across the infield.  At the plate, hits from a balanced setup, short stride, shows some quickness in hands, good use of lower half torque creates bat speed, shows ability to hit the ball to all fields, good barrel awareness, ran 7.00 60 yard dash, solid 2015 prospect.

Kyle Moore, SS/RHP, Muhlenberg County, 2014
5-foot-11, 155-pound prospect, have seen multiple times and like his defensive abilities, feet work well, plays through the ball with athletic actions, arm strength at 72 mph but have seen up to 77 at previous event, projects as 2nd baseman at the next level.  Offensively, hits from a balanced, wide setup, smooth load, no stride, showed improved use of lower half since event last month, had a solid round of BP with several hard line drives, showed improved 60 time at 7.15 and improved tee exit velocity at 77 mph, showed potential on the mound which will be featured in pitcher write-ups.

Jonathan Hatcher, SS, Daviess County, 2017
5-foot-10, 165-pound, young prospect, shows good athleticism, moves well laterally, good body control, arm strength at 75 mph and accurate, loose arm will continue to get stronger.  At the plate, slightly open setup, short stride, tendency to wrap bat in load, hands show some quickness to get barrel through the zone, showed the ability to make solid opposite field contact, good athlete, ran 7.25 60 yard dash, 77 mph tee exit velocity, definite 2017 prospect to follow.

Brice Stuteville, 2B, South Spencer (IN), 2017
5-foot-9, 136-pound, young prospect, shows athletic actions and the ability to throw from different arm slots, good body control, hands work, 63 mph arm across the infield.   At the plate, hits from slightly open setup, smooth load, short stride, triggers hands from chest level, level bat path, will generate more bat speed with physical development, ran 7.94 60 yard dash, 74 mph tee exit velocity.

Austin Payne, 2B, Daviess County, 2016
5-foot-8, 140-pound prospect, shows good lateral movement, room to improve footwork and arm strength at 63 mph across the infield.  At the plate, has a wide setup with no stride, tendency to wrap bat in load, long swing path, can use lower half better to create more bat speed, ran 7.22 60 yard dash, registered 74 mph tee exit velocity.
