PBR Fall Championships: Day 3 18U Notebook

By PBR Staff

The inaugural PBR Fall Championships are taking place at Grand Park in Westfield, IN. More than two dozen travel teams from across the Midwest are competing in two divisions with more than 100 scouts and college recruiters in attendance. There will be notebooks each day covering the 18U and 17U/16U divisions.

WESTFIELD, IN—The 2017 PBR Fall Championship concluded Sunday with titles going to the Giants Scout Team in the upper class division and the Midwest Rangers claiming the underclass division. The Giants held off a late rally by the Cangelosi Sparks, while the Rangers got a one-hit shutout from 2019 RHP Alex Pittman (Morgan Park HS, IL).

Here are some highlights from action outside the championship games…

+ 2019 LHP Cole Kirschsieper (Lincoln-Way West HS, IL) stands at 5-foot-11, 165 pounds with a well-proportioned frame. One of the top uncommitted arms in the event, he helped lead the Cangelosi Sparks to the championship game by logging six strong innings of one-run baseball. He struck out five and scattered five hits in the outing. He threw a high volume of strikes throughout and induced a ton of weak contact early. He primarily used a fastball-changeup mix, despite having an above-average breaking ball in his arsenal. He works from a long, loose ¾ arm slot with easy effort. His fastball sat 82-85 and he commanded it to both sides of the plate. He went to his changeup early and often, showing advanced feel for it at 76-77.
